Super Happy! Way better than a centrifugal juicer.
By Dibs on Reviewed in the United States on October 12, 2023
Had an Omega centrifugal juicer for 20 years (until the motor blew). Lasted long time (but I was a light user before; juicing daily now.) Didn't like either the cleaning chore or the fact that so much was wasted -- really quite excessive. Looked at ALL options. I was inclined towards the newer versions, but settled on this J8006 to a large extent because of the reviews. (Thank You, Everybody!) * I'm way happy that the fiber output is very dry -- just like everyone said. 300 times better than the centrifugal. Exceedingly little waste. * Maybe it's called "slow" but it is just fine. I still can't chop and peel quick enough to keep it running. Speed is no issue. Yes, it stays cool. * Someone complained about no screen provided in the newer ones. What I thought might be a point turned out not to be (for me). With the screen in place, what comes through is pretty watery. And about half was above the screen and half below the screen, so forced me to stop and deal with it way before I was ready. I wasn't about to throw out 50% so used a spoon to see what went through the screen -- 99%. Tiny bits of fiber (smaller than with the centrifugal) in the juice is better, I think) as gives body to the juice and good for my body and its plumbing, even as minor as the amount of fiber coming through is. Really, it's just fine straight out and I'm not using the screen after that first use. * There were many complaints about breaking plastic on the newer ones. This weighed more, I figured likely more metal, likely more solid. * From the photo, it looked like the plastic bins were pretty cheap. Wrong! They are sturdy and good quality. The juice bin holds a quart, the refuse bin is larger. * The number of reviews and great reviews on the J8006, including recent reviews in light of newer options available, impressed me -- it's still going strong. Even on the Omega website, it's shown pretty much first. * Yes, can't say why, but the juice does taste better. * Cleaning is way easier. Less parts, less mess, easier on and easier off. I did discover that I had to brush the fine screens harder -- but happy to do so as they do a great job! * I just finished juicing two pomegranates. They came out terrible with the centrifugal; came out perfect here. What else I've juiced: beets, carrots, cauliflower, collards, parsley, two kinds of kale, lemons, oranges, celery (lots!), leeks, cucumber (I like ending with that as it flushed out the system). Everything comes out absolutely perfect - absolutely! * Citrus juicer gains far, far more juice than any other kind - squeeze top, hand grip compression -- this gives way more juice. The time to cut off the peel (can be done quickly, doesn't have to be exact) is worth every bit of the output. Lemon, orange. grapefruit -- all fabulous! * And a 15-year warranty? My last Omega lasted 20 years. Just can't beat that!

Omega customer service have all been killed by raiders
By Cara on Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2023
I spent a month trying to find a way to love this thing, adjusting my expectations over and over. Customer service are all dead in a ditch somewhere, so I toughed it out and tried to figure things out myself. After watching lots of YouTube videos and reading lots of Reddit conversations, I've come to the conclusion that using this juicer is a lot more tedious in practice than it appears to be on the surface. I was willing to give up the idea of making just orange juice or just apple juice, but even once I got to the point where I'm SLOWLY shoving a complex equation of different hard and soft things in there just to try to keep things moving, I wasn't satisfied and my juice was chunky. Other one star reviews say the same thing - the fine mesh screen just clogs too easily. Yes it's easy to take it apart and clean it, but I'm not interested in doing that three times just to make a glass of juice without chunks. So then, what, you're running all the stuff through the machine knowing that it's going to have chunks, you run it through a sieve after you're done and stir it to get all the chunks out. Yeah, it comes with a mesh screen that fits over the juice receptacle. You'll be dead in the ground and thirsty if you wait for that thing to work, it overflows before it drains because of all this chunky jawn Don't be selfish and try to just make a glass of orange juice that's bad for you anyway you sugar piggy you should be ashamed. So you're making sure that you alternate one piece of soft fruit like orange or apple with something harder like beet, and even then the screen clogs before you've made it through your first orange. I've tried many times to learn the secret handshake of just how many hard things you need to process one soft thing. I quit, I'm sending this thing back and ordering a nut milk bag to strain juice I make in my blender like a caveman. Honorable mention, making fruit sorbet like a banana whip with this masticating juicer is a beautiful thing. But I didn't pay $320 for a banana whip machine, dawg
