TaoTronics Humidifiers, 4L

We have been running this humidifier every night, all night, for 3 years and it is still working perfectly. I don't often comment on older purchases but this humidifier is exceptional. The engineering behind this is so impressive with the detailed controls, moisture dispersion, ease of cleaning, ease of refill, and just the right water volume to easily last all night when set on the highest setting. The ability to turn off all LEDs at night is an added bonus since this sits on my nightstand. I clean and sterilize it with a little bleach every couple of weeks. Other than that there is no maintenance. The "every night" use for years speaks volumes on the quality of this unit. And no, I'm not a Youtuber or other internet person that gets paid for reviews.

We just wanted a little extra indoor humidity for an unusually dry period in our area and this fit the bill nicely. There are tons of high value off-brand gems on Amazon that is fun to find and this is definitely one of them! Tank is easy to fill with handles on both ends, and it has a great display with humidistat to dial in automatic On/Off at the humidity level you want and a full tank lasts a full 12 hours on continuous high usage. It also looks cool with the nightlight on, and is nice you can turn just the light on while still letting it perform on High, which is very quiet itself. Or, you can press again for full on very quiet sleep mode for a bedroom. Personally I like a little noise while I sleep so I wouldn't actually use sleep mode but it's nice to have the option. Also, surprisingly the floor doesn't get wet where the mist is falling, it actually does a great job to finely aerosol the water to mix into the air before it hits the floor. Just a couple of minor Con's, one is that your set humidity level setting resets back down to 30% every time you fill it or power it off and back on. This is definitely a little annoying and they should address this in their next updated model. If it wasn't such a good value it would be worth knocking off a star. Also, a lot of warm water just sits in the base when you take the tank off to refill it. I have mine next to a sink so I dump this out every time I refill it but it's a little weird how it's supposedly empty yet a good cup or more of warm water just sitting there seems like would collect germs. Also, we have good quality soft water here but I'd use filtered water if convenient and if you live where the water is has a lot of minerals. Another is that it looks like the replacement filters are not for sale on Amazon at this time but not sure how often you really need to replace them if you keep the rest cleaned. Still a 5 star product based on value for all it's functionality!

I've had this humidifier for a few weeks now; wanted to see how well it performed before reviewing it. Straight out of the box it is constructed with high quality materials. Plugged in and running it has an extremely nice display. The whole thing just looks like it's well made. (I'm really not that concerned with how it looks. Much more concerned with function. However, it does look very nice and, now that I have it, aesthetics do play a bigger role in my appreciation than I thought they would). Function-wise: this thing does a great job of pluming the mist high up into the air (which is what we want). No condensation, no pooling of water at the base. The "humidistat", part of the gorgeous, lighted display, works well and helps me to set the proper amount of humidity and, more important, it just gives you a target to dial in once you know what works for your room. Environment: I'm in Minnesota. It's winter. The house is dry. I have this unit on a window shelf, next to a plant, and the plant, which was doing ok, suddenly sprang back to energetic life. It looks like it looks during the summer with the leaves reaching toward the ceiling. And my cat, who was being plagued with static electricity, is back to having normal, pet-able hair. Which he seems to like. And, speaking of static electricity: it's gone. This is good because I have way too many electronics in the room and the last thing I want to do is fry anything. So, to sum it all up: this is a fantastic humidifier, at a great price, that looks good, and works well. Oh, cleaning is a breeze. Yes, I've already recommended it to a few people!

Updated 3/21: TaoTronics eventually sent me a replacement humidifier and so far it is working correctly. Since they did support their product and repair/replace it, I am adding some stars on. My son really likes that it also is a blue night light. This humidifier won't disappoint if you can catch it on sale. Updated 1/15/21: After a few weeks the humidifier started making a loud fan noise when operating. I reached out to TaoTronics with my order information. They said that because I bought it directly from amazon that they couldn't help me. No warranty support if you purchase this from amazon. This is not real important, but in the box is one of those cards for a "free gift". I tried emailing it just to see if it was real and it was not. I also told TaoTronics about it and they said they did not include any "free gift" cards in there. Since this was shipped and sold by amazon, who put the card in the box if not TaoTronics? I'm surprised amazon allows this. Original Review: My previous humidifier only had one knob to turn it up and down. The mist was "wetter" making everything around it damp. This humidifier is leagues above that one. For one the mist is super fine so it's not going to soak anything. It also has a timer that can be set from 1 to 24 hours. The best feature is it tells you the actual humidity and you can set what you want the humidity to be, for example 50. It will stop when the humidity is at the right level and will maintain that level! The night light is super cool because it's not going to keep you up at night and makes the tank look kind of like an aquarium. I've included a video so you can hear that the humidifier makes almost no noise. Pros: - Super quiet - Fine mist - Timer control - Humidity sensor and display - Humidity level control - Night light - Handle on the top and bottom for carrying the tank - Brush inside the base for cleaning - Air filter foam with one replacement foam Cons: The white plastic thing that you turn to aim the mist isn't fixed in that spot. When you turn it upside down it will just fall out. I had it fall out multiple times the first 15 minutes that I was setting it up. I don't know why it doesn't clip into place.

Update: it's been almost 2 weeks and I can tell it works!! My dog had a runny nose and he snores a lot, and this helped alleviate both! I've been using this humidifier for about a week and when I first received it, everything was packaged well and the instructions were easy to understand. Regardless of the instructions, it's actually pretty simple to use and understand just by looking at it. The first night that I used it, it had a humming sound but now it's pretty quiet so I'm thinking it might have just been because of first use? The night light is great but unfortunately was too bright for me and my dog.. my dog was just staring at it and could NOT sleep ha! The mist dispersed evenly and did not affect anything around the humidifier.. granted I do have it away from the wall and other things. I think it helps with the air moisture but so far I haven't noticed a BIG difference from before I was using it... I'll keep using it to see! Things to consider: Make sure you hold the machine with one hand when pressing the buttons so you don't accidentally knock it over! I also hate refilling this.. you have to lift it up (nothing holds it together/it's not secure), turn it upside down, unscrew the filter which can hurt a little depending on how you're holding it, refill it, and put it back.. and I'm always stressed with doing this because it can drip out if you're not careful..

This is a nice and quiet humidifier. Easy to clean.

I love that I can see the water especially if it's getting low. You can set the humidity levels and even set a timer as well. I use this all winter long for my house plants and it even has a little light inside. It's really easy to clean and even the filter is washable.

This is an amazing humidifier. I'm actually ordering a second one for my living room. My spouse has arthritis and neuropathy and needs consistent heat and humidity during the winter as the dry air from the heating makes her symptoms worse. This humidifier is just what we were looking for! Pros: -- Super easy to use. We set the humistat at 60-70 and forget about it for the day/night. The fact it turns itself on and off as needed means we don't run through water too fast, and there's no wetness on the floor in front of it. -- An actual DARK night mode. I cannot stand having a little blue light that lights up the entire bedroom at night. I'd end up taping over most humidifiers that claimed to have a nighttime mode because they were way too bright. This one turns off all lights and still runs. No lights. Amazing. -- Easy to fill up. Handles on the top and bottom make it easy to carry and easy to fill up in the bathtub (faster than the kitchen faucet). -- Easy to clean, and no filter to buy (and we have hard water, so this is a major issue). Cons: -- The ONLY con is that there is no beep or alert when it runs out of water. Because it turns itself on and off, it's easy to miss that it's empty. But this is a minor complaint.

I have an apartment that likes to drop to really low humidity without any warning, causing me to wake up feeling super dry even if i drank a huge bottle of water before bed. Bring in this lovely little device and it's done a great job. I use exclusively purified water. It does require cleaning every few days or slime will start to build up in the lower chamber. I kind of wish it had a built in UV light instead of a nightlight to kill any bacteria there. It does come with a cleaning brush but it is largely ineffective, and the spot they made for it inside ironically just makes cleaning more difficult. It's also important to do this so the ultrasonic generator can continue to work at full strength - the brush works great for this part. Refilling is a straightforward process, just lift the container straight up and the valve will seal automatically. Now, condensation does build up underneath and also the valve can leak a few drops as it seals, but since I've had it I haven't had more than a teaspoon or two of water. So this is a fairly reliable system from a leakage standpoint! I do wish the reservoir was slightly larger, as a 1 gallon purified water bottle fills this exactly to the top and then about a quarter cup of water pours out as I insert the lid with valve and filter - pretty annoying to have to keep the bottle with a half cup of water left in it. A small thing that should have been obvious during their testing. Overall way better product than I was expecting and I hope it lasts.

Works decent for the price. Not amazing. Still holding up after a couple year. Have cleaned it regularly.
