Perhaps the best appliance I have ever purchased
By S. R. Osterfeld on Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2020
I usually write a review of a purchase if prompted by Amazon, out of courtesy for potential future buyers. I am writing this review because I want to. I was not prompted by Amazon. This Shark vacuum cleaner is perhaps the best appliance I have ever purchased. It also replaces perhaps the worst appliance I have ever purchased: a Bissell vacuum cleaner. The Shark Navigator UV810 gets the highest marks in nearly every category I can think of: suction, maneuverability, lightweight, ease of use, engineering, design, attachments, and so on. What I am most impressed with are the innovations in design and engineering. The Lift-Away aspects let you easily vacuum the stairs, curtains, under chairs, and other difficult to reach places. The container into which everything is vacuumed easily separates from the main unit and is easily disposed of. Attachments snap into place, as opposed to my old Bissell where things just seemed to be wedged together. The swivel aspect makes it easy to maneuver. The light on the main unit is very handy. Cleaning the brushes and other parts of the vacuum is easy. Things snap apart, are easily disassembled and re-assembled. Very intuitive. The only negative is that the electrical cord does not retract into the unit. However, considering the lightweight design, it would be nearly impossible to add that feature, so I will gladly give them a pass on that “flaw.” Editor’s note: I will add it has a bit of a high-pitched whine. I wouldn’t call it loud. Just a tad bit of a high-pitched whistle or whirring sound. I could go on and on, but suffice it so say, imo, this is the best vacuum I have ever owned and highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to buy a vacuum cleaner.

Lasted 19 months
By W on Reviewed in the United States on December 11, 2021
Product worked well when it worked. It maybe tended to clog up faster than other vacuums I have used. It was light, easy to maneuver and generally a fine vacuum. However, the hose that leads from the head on the floor to the canister developed a crack and so the vacuum lost its suction at the head. I phoned Shark to ask about their warranty and was told that wasn't covered. Truly unfortunate that a crucial piece to the function of the vacuum can't even last 19 months and most unfortunate that they won't warranty said failure. Last Shark I will buy with that kind of "durability" and "customer service".
