Best filter I have ever owed
By Amazon Customer on Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2020
We love love love this filter. We moved to Philadelphia and are used to well water. The water is hard, possible lead due to old pipes, and has a strong chlorine smell/ taste. We bought this after heavily reviewing and are very satisfied. We don’t smell or taste the chlorine and it really makes a difference. The design itself is fool proof. No way of water spilling into the container without going through the filter. The filter itself is quick. To the comments/ other reports about the unfiltered water dripping through... those people are just being messy. If you fill the water past the fill line or you turn on the water prior to putting the filter down... you will splash the water into the areas on the top that are open... this isn’t a design flaw.. it’s a user error. The long lasting filter will save you money. Would definitely recommend it if you have harsh/ heavy water. I only wish they could design a shower filter attachment!

Stunningly bad design

I was replacing a poorly designed regular sized brita pitcher with this one because the old one's handle would stick (the handle is split, half white connected to the filter base, the other half part of the pitcher itself). This goldfishbowl is...worse. 1. the handle is made up 2 joined parts that do not separate - but allow water to enter! This means water can get into the handle, and be poured out...but when it starts to mildew you have no way in there to clean it out. 2. You no longer pour the water into the reservoir, but into a tunnel that winds up there. The first time I did this it...wait for it...leaked into the handle AND around the reservoir - allowing water to go into the pitcher that hadn't gone through the filter. Guess I overfilled it, but it's not clear why they made how high you can fill it impossible to see and based partly on guesswork. 3. The filter age is recorded by an electronic monitor - with a battery you cannot access, but which stopped working for me when it got wet. They note it records use by how many times the lid is lifted - so you are supposed to drain the pitcher completely before refilling completely to measure the # of times the filter is used. No way to reach the batter, but it can't get wet bcause it isn't sealed - and it doesn't record use unless you fully empty and fill the thing? I'd be returning it today if I hadn't recycled the box thinking it couldn't possibly need returning. I'll be looking for a better designed offband replacement in the very near future. ***Edit, one more thing - the pour spout is now covered with a plastic flap. That flap consistently doesn't open / jams when you pour, so instead of a small stream of water out of a narrow spout you get a cascade of water around the 3" area where the water is stuck behind the spout flap.
