K&H Pet Products Lectro-Kennel Heated Pat

We got this for our 50 lbs pit/lab mix. It gets cold here in the winter and she is an outdoor dog. Mind you, she has a dog house with lots of blankets and towels but we wanted to give her something more to keep her warm. We tried a heater that you mount on the inside of the dog house but she bumped her head on it and refused to go into the dog house for almost a month. So we ordered this 'platform' heater that she could lay on. Great idea. Just not for a dog who a) likes to chew and b) is kind of scared by 'noises' that are unfamiliar to her. (She was a 'rescue' so we don't know much about her past.) First, we laid it on the porch without plugging it in so she could get used to it. Well, she tried chewing/removing the fleece cover. Then she tried chewing the plastic platform itself. She would never step on it though. We think it is because of the noise and the rigidity of the platform. It makes noise (not loud) when pressure is applied to it. It does work though. We laid a pillow on it while plugged in and it did heat up. We are keeping it because it is past the 30 days and will probably give it to our daughter who has a cat with arthritis in his hips. He may not find the 'noises' so disturbing.
