If you buy a CleanFlow, get the reservoir!

UPDATE: I stuck with the 5 stars -- because I've found all motorized water bowls for cats have some quirks -- but we have had some issues since this review. There was an incident where the motor started sloshing water out of the bowl and soaked our carpet (we didn't notice until it had sloshed almost the whole reservoir... it was a mess.) I searched online to see if others had this problem and found people had. Like with knowing how to adjust the motor so it's silent (it still is for us) cleaning it once a week is absolutely imperative. Apparently, that's what caused the overactive motor -- debris or hair in the mechanism. Just wanted people to know this can happen. It hasn't happened since, but I now clean it once a week. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I bought the CleanFlow in a size small, with the reservoir attachment. I'm coming off of using the Catit Flower Pet Fountain, which I used for years and the cats loved. It ultimately holds the same amount of water as the CleanFlow. But I have 2 large -- not fat, but big -- domestic short hairs that drink A LOT of water. (Yes, the small is absolutely big enough for two cats. Both can drink at the same time.) The reason I wanted to try something new was for me, not them. Because the motor on the Catit is at the bottom and the lower the water goes, the noisier it got. I found I was constantly having to add more water, whether they needed it yet or not. The CleanFlow has the reservoir feeding downward, so there's never an issue of needing to fill it on a daily basis. And while the motor isn't silent (haven't ever found one that is) it's incredibly quiet. I found that the full reservoir lasted the cats a week, which makes it perfect because I clean it once a week. The CleanFlow definitely helped consolidate the necessary upkeep, which I appreciate. Because it means more time for cuddling with my fur babies. And I agree with some of the other reviews... when you install it, read the instructions. If your motor is making excessive noise, just take it apart, clean it out, and try again. Happens sometimes, but it's easily fixable. Also, compared to the Catit, it's way easier to clean. Including the fact that the bowl is dishwasher safe. I'm a few weeks in to using it and couldn't be happier. My babies are still drinking a ton of water, which is great for their health, and have no complaints either!

Horrible water dish and customer service!
By Stacey on Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2016
Update: our two elderly cats passed not long after this review, so this water fountain went into storage with the rest of the of the girls stuff. In August we adopted three cats and I decided to try this again. I got past the noise, but the reservoir sprung a leak at the seam right above the threads at the neck of the reservoir. I emailed the company several times and received generic "make sure the cap is screwed on correctly, check placement...". It was clear the never read my inquiry. I replied with a pretty frustrated email and still did not get a response. Over the past few weeks I have been getting calls from a 719 number and finally they left a voice mail that it was a representative from K&H. They always call in the middle of the day and when I am able to call back they are closed. All I am asking for is that they honor the warranty and send a new reservoir only yet it's been one of the worst customer service experiences of my life. Don't waste your time and money on this company! I was looking for a good filtering water dish with a large reservoir for our 2 elderly cats. They had both been diagnosed with renal failure so having lots of fresh water available was critical. Reading the reviews I felt this was the best option, but I was wrong! This is the noisiest water fountain ever. I had to put it on the other side of the house and we still hear it. I contacted the company and was giving directions how to clean the pump but that did not work. I contacted them back and let them know it did not resolve our issue and never heard back. I emailed them 2 more times and still have never received a response. All I'm asking for is a replacement pump and a label to send this one back to see if that resolves the issue. Still no response. If you're looking for something quiet this is not the water dish for you.
