when mounting on the wall, the brackets don't sit flush with the shelf against the wall, there's a gap of maybe a 16th of an inch from the bracket to the wall. when you tighten the screws in to the wall, it flexes the bracket, causing the braces (which sit in sockets and are held on by tension) to pop out. I had to put shims behind the brackets to keep this from happening.
