After several hours of reading the manual, watching the video, and consulting with folks that know sewing machines, I decided to return it. Awaiting return shipping instruction that never came in, today the service request was closed. "Reason for the closure of your request: Solved a technical issue" No issues were resolved. Very disappointed.
