K&H Heated A-Frame Outdoor Cat House

Purchased this A-Frame shelter with the heated option (consisting of a 19"' x 24" LectroSoft) to provide an additional weather-resistant heated shelter for neighborhood feral cats suffering in Chicagoland winter conditions. I've also purchased three(3) small LectroSoft 14"x18" heated bed pads (heartily recommended!), they're REALLY enjoyed by feral cats trying to escape to shelter! They can't believe the warmth!! This A-Frame is easy to erect/assemble, the heated pad covers the entire bottom surface, the nylon fabric is at least "water-resistant" if not water-proof. The A-frame side walls ( inside the waterproof fabric ) are formed from plastic corrugated type material, and heavy-duty clear plastic vinyl "flaps" attach over the doorways with velcro and are removable. K & H states the shelter is intended to be used while being protected from direct harsh weather conditions, such as on on a porch or in a barn, and is not suitable for direct exposure to rain and snow. I'm using the A-frame outside and only partially sheltered under a 2nd floor porch overhang so I decided to fabricate a protective weather-resistant cover using 2" pink construction type foam, glued together w/foam adhesive, and sealed with an acrylic latex stain/paint, The A-Frame can slip into the foam sleeve, it's a comfortable friction fit. ( It's actually easy to saw the required angles after layout of a pattern with a carpenter's square; "rise vs. run", etc., rafter angles on a 1"x4"x3'). I added a "glowing" nite-lite in the corner to assist the cat's recognition of the inside while wandering around in the dark; I've REALLY enjoyed positioning a "RING stick-up Cam" in the shelter area for viewing cat activities(see photo). Really think this A-Frame is the "CATS MEOW" and recommend it without reservation!!
