Tineco over Dyson v11. Here is why.....
By BEAR on Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2020
UPDATE 11/7/2020: zero issues. Regular use as always. Two sets of filter, when I rinse off one and let it air dry for 2-3 days, I use the other one. Never used the filter cleaning tool, since I consider it kind of useless. I rather rinse off the filter with slightly warm water and let it dry for few days. I also never charge it constantly. I will charge one battery and then take it off the charge. I actually placed a duck tape over the charging prongs to prevent constant charge and extend the battery life. Love my Tineco. UPDATE 8/22/2020: no issues at all. Regular cleaning maintenance. Swapping filters and rinsing the dirty one with cold water and air dry. Also, I don’t leave batteries in charger all the time for longer life. UPDATE 5/17/2020: going strong. Still same maintenance and use. Love it. This one was a toss. Got tineco s12 and Dyson v11. I had really hard time deciding. BUT, at the end what won me over Dyson v11 (and I’m owner of Dyson fan, humidifier and air purifier).... were the features of tineco s12. I tested both of these vacuums, and while you have them side by side, the tineco is much lighter than Dyson. Way easier to handle around. The switch ON/OFF is amazing. I take the tineco to my car and turn it on and can use both hands to move things around. With Dyson I couldn’t. I would have to buy additional trigger holder ($12) just to be able have the same feature. The other thing when it comes to car cleaning, the crevice tool on tineco is designed way better than the Dyson one... it’s more narrow at the tip opening, which would fit in more tight spots that need cleaning. The Dyson crevice tool is much bigger and needs more suction for picking up dirt, and the side holes on the crevice tool aren’t helping at all. I had to tape them to get better suction. Wish there was better crevice tool from Dyson. Also, tineco adjustable suction allows you narrow to suction that is good enough to pick stuff up.... I turn the vacuum ON, ramp up the suction to desire level and I’m good to go. Dyson on other hand allows me choose only ECO, AUTO(medium) and BOOST. Suction on Dyson is unbeatable for using the motorhead. No doubt. It’s powerful. But at the end I had to look at the other options that tineco offered, and not just the suction, which on tineco is plenty enough to pick stuff up from the carpet and kitchen floor. I had a concern about the dirt detection at first, but at the end it actually works very well. It does what it supposed to do, and doesn’t sacrifice battery. Speaking of batteries, it’s amazing to have them being removable. One usually is plenty to clean apartment or a car. Having second one as a backup is awesome. I don’t have to hang up my vacuum to charge it. I have to with Dyson, by plugging the whole thing. I had no major problems with filter cleaning. They send you two of them, with filter cleaning tool. I have never used that tool. I simply rinse the filter with water once a week and let it fully dry. In meantime I use the spare filter. Quality of the vacuum is outstanding. It’s solid. It’s premium material. It doesn’t wobble as much as Dyson in the connection point. Technology is very neat, and having my phone send me notification about cleaning filter etc is very cool. Almost forgot!!!! LED lights. Once you use them it’s hard going back to vacuum without headlights. Overall, I got amazing quality vacuum for a great price. It was on sale at $429 when I purchased it. IF, the Dyson had ON/OFF switch, LED lights and removable batteries.....and stupidly enough, a smaller/narrowed crevice tool..... I would go for Dyson, BUT because it doesn’t have it, and the only advantage is slightly stronger suction power.... I choose tineco s12 and I’m extremely happy. I’m hoping for Dyson to introduce a new vacuum this year with everything they missed on v11. Then I will consider them again. For now, tineco is a huge competition, and they are getting this right. If I didn’t have a chance to have those two side by side, I probably would end up with Dyson, be happy with the suction, but would totally miss on all the other features from tineco.

Waste of money
By Helge Dirk Hartung on Reviewed in the United States on September 9, 2019
I bought this vacuum cleaner 3 years ago after doing a ton of research on cordless handheld vacuums. This model seemed to be well-reviewed, so I went for it. Now, I really wish I hadn't wasted my money. Something this expensive really should do its job better (i.e., actually pick up dirt!) and shouldn't be malfunctioning within a couple of years. At first, I loved it and almost wrote a 5-star review - it is lightweight, easy to maneuver, and seemed to work well to pick up dog hair off the carpet. The fact that it is cordless felt convenient, and the backup battery usually allowed me to cover large areas of the house. The "fancy" features like the electronic dust indicator and adjustable suction strength also seemed cool. I suspect that many of the 5-star reviews were similarly wowed by the "cool" factor at first. However, after actually using this vacuum cleaner regularly for the last few years, I really wish I had bought something else for many reasons: - poor suction strength: there are a ton of attachments, but they are essentially useless because the unit lacks the suction power to actually pull anything in - it cannot handle small crumbs or even the smallest of spider webs. I would have to pull out my dustpan and brush or my full-size vacuum cleaner to pick up everything this thing missed - terrible on bare floors and along edges/corners: it comes only with a carpet attachment, which works reasonably well on open areas of carpet. However, the bare floor attachment is sold separately, which is pathetic for a vacuum cleaner this expensive, so I never bought one. If you try to use the included carpet attachment on floors, it mostly just pushes crumbs around and is useless along edges and corners - poorly designed waste compartment: it is inexplicably divided into upper and lower sections. Most pet and human hair gets trapped in the upper section, so the only way to empty it is by reaching in and removing the filter/partition. This is annoying and means it has to be emptied very frequently - flimsy plastic components: part of the carpet attachment broke early on, making it loose (but still usable). More recently (and this was the final straw), the latch of the dust compartment broke, so the door does not stay closed. The door and latch are not sold separately, so I would have had to spend $60 to replace the entire waste compartment. No way I'm spending that kind of money to fix an already crappy vacuum cleaner. - Glitchy and keeps shutting itself off: when this happens, the symbols on the top might show error codes for dirty filter, clogged attachment, etc., but even after thoroughly cleaning the filter and all attachments, it still malfunctions. The only thing that seems to "reset" it is hanging it back up to charge again for a few hours and trying again while hoping for the best. So, after all this frustration, I finally just bought myself a Shark Performance UltraLight Corded Stick Vacuum with DuoClean from Costco for $150. What a difference to have something that actually works well! I really wish I hadn't wasted my money 3 years ago and had just bought the Shark from the beginning. I don't think a cordless vacuum cleaner can ever actually generate the suction needed to clean properly, so don't waste your money on the Tineco. I highly recommend just going with a corded model that can actually do what a vacuum cleaner is supposed to do.
