size 10-15% smaller than my older Samsonite roll-on
By Paul on Reviewed in the United States on August 14, 2024
First off, I am a frequent world traveler with my older version of this roller bag. It's gone from the Antarctica to the Arctic to Canada to Alaska and finally to Colombia, South Amer. just this year. My roller bag is critical to me because I rarely check bags, for many obvious reasons. The old roller Samsonite bag still works, but I thought that because it's simply "old" that maybe it was time to get the new version. To see "frequent returns" of the new bag feels very unfair: I ordered the new bag and it is definitely an improvement from the old one in a number of areas-primarily in adding more zip compartments (it is also a beautifully designed and very lightweight bag. So, my only gripe is that it's SMALLER by maybe 10-15% compared to my current Samsonite roller bag. Every inch matters to me. But, that said, if you are traveling in Europe and in other areas you may find that the smaller size will get you into the plane wherein the larger bag will be rejected as a carry on. Again, I totally recommend this bag, just recognize that it is smaller than the older model by maybe 10-15% percent. this is admittedly a beautiful, well crafted, and light roll-on luggage for carry on to planes. That said I returned it, because my current, older Samsonite roller bag has a noticeably bigger interior space. I believe that Samsonite is paying attention to so many airlines that are becoming notoriously tight in which bags they accept, and especially, smaller airlines in Europe now make it very difficult to get luggage onboard. But, so far, my current Samsonite roller bag (the same. but older version of this bag), is working for me. I would have kept this bag but for it's decreased size, so I reluctantly returned it. By the way, I never buy hard shell bags because they are much more difficult to get into overhead bins and have less flexibility when stuffing items, also they are heavier :).

Cheap design and materials on wheels and handle, won't roll straight, stay away!
By Marty on Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 2025
Don't buy this. We bought it and matching carry-on as a 2024 Christmas present for our daughter, who is a nurse, and was taking her first international trip on her own in Spring 2025, to Japan. In April she called us on her way TO Japan from an airport to ask for any tips to get it to roll straight. Her wrist hurt from trying to keep it straight going through the airport. (She also called because the carry-on handle would not go all the way down.) She has returned, I've checked, and there is nothing broken about the wheels on this suitcase. They are simply cheap, wobbly, and the suitcase absolutely will not roll straight. I played with it a lot on our wood floor and though it rolls smooth, it just wants to turn and rotate constantly. Also, the carryon has a sleeve designed to slip over the luggage handle so you can stack the two pieces. However the handle is not long enough to extend above the carry-on so your hand is squished by the carry-on if you try to use the luggage handle to roll it through the airport. (Don't even think about a rough sidewalk outside the airport!) When the luggage was full, the weight made it turn and rotate with a lot more force than in the attached video, but it did the same thing. Also, the handle sticks severely now and is difficult to collapse, the result of one trip of use. On the carry-on, at the airport, the handle would not collapse. We talked on the phone and she unzipped the liner and saw that a metal nub was not retracting from a hole on the handle, preventing it from collapsing. She was able to wrap some tape around the handle to hold the nub in, and then the handle collapsed but it was now loose and wobbly the entire trip. Our return date passed on Jan 31, 2025. What a huge disappointment, cheap design and cheap materials! I'm going to try to get it replaced under warranty and just sell it and buy something that is actually good. Stay away from this POS! If the Samsonite name ever meant quality, it does not now.
