My favorite coffee maker!

Mr. Coffee BVMC-PO19B All-in-One Pour Over Coffee Maker – 6 Cups, is made by the American company, Sunbeam, and manufactured for them in China. Also known as the ‘At-Home Pour Over’, I am very satisfied with the design and functionality of this machine. I wish it came in a larger version; this is a small machine compared to other coffee brewers. Too small for more than two people. As with most coffee brewers, its design specifications for six cups are equal to three mugs. That being said, I like that it does not have a water reservoir or a water pump-dispenser, these are always problematic in my experience. This machine is inexpensive, nearly all plastic (yes, water does come in contact with the plastic but the process is harmless and there is no effect on the taste). The water kettle is stainless steel, not high grade but adequate, and the coffee carafe is borosilicate glass, common to glass coffee carafes. The carafe has a brushed metal strap at the base to brace the handle, looks nice, but prevents putting the carafe in the microwave to heat leftover coffee. I wish the carafe was safe for microwave. The entire setup measures 11.5 in. H x 17 in. L x 8.5 in. W. This is different than the measurement given on the website. The electronics for on-off, measuring scale, water kettle heating, and timer are in the base stand. There is no keep-warm plate. You cannot adjust the temperature, it is set to 200, I didn’t check it for accuracy, but the coffee is hot. You cannot attain a ‘boil’. Automatic shut-off. The machine does not come with a filter. I prefer paper to stainless, easier to dispose of grounds. You need number 2, pointed cone. I use Hario V6. Make sure to get pointed cone. Pour hot water through filter before adding grounds. Prewetting the filter also helps to slow the pour-over flow-rate to improve saturation, form the paper to the holder, remove any paper taste and warm the carafe. Discard the water from the carafe. The pour-over flow-rate to the carafe depends on the grind. I prefer strong coffee, like double espresso. I use a dark roast, fine grind. The scale to weigh the coffee grounds in proportion to the number of cups works flawlessly. Pour water slowly. The coffee is hot and the strength is perfect for my taste. I’ve tried all the big-name coffee makers, and every type, (siphon, drip, pour-over, espresso, pods, etc.), I didn’t like any of them, many problems with water reservoir pumps and heating elements. My latest experiment was the manual French Press, great coffee maker, but too much work, especially to clean. I recommend this machine; I will buy another if it breaks down. My favorite coffee maker so far.
