The good part: it is sturdy, as evidenced from the fact that is still works (I bought it refurbished, so it had been shipped a couple of times). The other good part: it is easy to operate, and can do a lot, heat, airco, fan, dehumidify. The bad parts: its a challenge to attach the hose to the machine and then the hose to the window piece. It took an hour of frustration, easily, with the thing keep coming off. Once it is installed, as somebody wrote, the hose can come off, but I think it is a matter of how you attach it (how many hours of frustration you want to put into it). Regarding the noise levels: apart from the fan position, the other positions are absolutely sleep-incompatible. I would say it is even living room incompatible. I will use it, now that I have it and it can't be returned (!) and will put it on as needed. Generally, not being able to return it is something I wish I had been aware of. Also, it contains cooling fluid so you can't dispose of it easily either. To end on a positive note, I do believe that running it a couple of hours will significantly cool or heat at least a large living room, and the fact that you can roll it to a area/corner that is not used a lot is a plus.
