My review is more about the packaging than the item. The scratches on the bin were caused before it was put in the box to ship. The only other items in the box were about 15 feet of brown paper and two plastic bags of dried fruit, nothing that could cause the scratches that are very noticeable and unsightly. The scratches won't affect the performance, but it may make it more difficult to clean because the scratches make the surface rough. A new item should look new, not like it has been used and abused. The one positive is that the lid does remove easily.
