Holds in too much body heat (even in winter)
By CL6809 on Reviewed in the United States on January 29, 2024
Ok, let me first say that this is my third weighted blanket, so there's no unfamiliarity with them and their characteristics. This one is fine, looks nice, and actually launders pretty well on the gentle cycle. The weight is good, although it does feel like there's a scarcity of beads at the perimeter of the blanket, but overall it's a decent blanket. BUT... this thing gets really hot. I'm sure that sounds great to a lot of people UNLESS you're someone like me who tends to be a warm/hot sleeper; if that's the case, then this is not going to be the blanket for you. We live in Georgia and in the winter we have the thermostat set at 66 for sleeping, and even then we have the window cracked about 3" as long as the temps outside aren't going to be below 30 degrees. I have just this blanket and a cotton percale sheet over me on my side of the bed and I'm almost able to make it through the entire night comfortably; but if there's anything else on me - even just another cotton sheet or a light cotton blanket - then I wake up drenched in sweat (not fun when you kick off the covers or have to get up and the ambient room temp is hovering around 66, I assure you).

Not too many choices for 17 lbs so I chose this one. Quality seems fine. The stitching looked fine, with even distribution of beads. Unforetunate that it doesn't come with a duvet like some of the others because I'd rather wash that than try to wash 17# blanket. Size is fine. You don't want the blanket so big that it hangs over the bed. (So I got a twin for just me. On a queen bed that's a bit odd sized with another person in the bed who doesn't want a weighted blanket. So we are getting a king bed so my blanket doesn't move over. I don't know what size is right for two people who want to be covered in the same bed.) I had to return it because I thought it was too heavy. Otherwise I would have kept it and bought an additional duvet cover. I am 180# 5'11" femaie. 15# twin seems perfect for me right now.
Wish Amazon Kept This Item

This is a well made item. I use it year round. I returned to Amazon recently to purchase another and Amazon has quit making or selling it. Disappointing, as I wished they still had it. The zipper interior compartment was lined, making for a slightly heavier weight but durable cover. The zipper, though polyester, was mid grade. It wasn't cheap like the zippers on the recently purchased duvet covers. The fabric is soft, comfortable, and durable. After over a year of use, the fabric has maintained both its color, softness, and beauty. I have yet to locate another vendor with the same quality of workmanship as this one. This duvet cover is completely dissimilar and superior to the weighted blanket duvet covers that now exist. Amazon PLEASE bring back this item. Thanks.
Great Buy

Loved the color of this cover. The ties don't last long if you don't handle with ease while attempting to move balnket around. Love the the over all product. It is heavy so if you have a problem handling heavy blankets it may not be for you. I do love it and I like how heavy it is!

Sometimes my body begins to get antsy while I’m lying down trying to sleep but this weighted blanket has changed everything for me. I fall asleep so much quicker and I stay asleep too. LOVE THIS WEIGHTED BLANKET
Good buy for the money

I had a more expensive 20-lb weighted blanked from another company so I was a bit dubious when I saw this one for a significantly lower price. It worked as advertised. The 15 pound was a good weight for me even though the common wisdom says 10% of your body weight. It says it is an all season blanket. That might be true if it was the only blanket on the bed. I used it with a top sheet, blanket and bed spread and found it to be warm. I suppose if I had it as the only blanket it might work. Ultimately, I ended up returning it. Not because of quality or even the extra warmth. I couldn't get used to the constant weight. I'm a side sleeper and toss/turn quite a bit. I found I was waking more often because I couldn't turn over to my other side. The other reason was I'm also an edge sleeper so to stay covered I had to let a little hang over the side which seemed to increase the weight slightly. If you primarily sleep on your back, belly or don't toss/turn, this is a great product. When I was napping in a recliner with my other blanket, I loved the comfort it provided....kind of like a full body hug. I can see why people love them.
Not for me

It's a fine cover i guess. The inner ties have broken on me specifically because this thing is velour! The pile of the fabric goes one way only and that way is ALWAYS straight off my bed. So tugging it back up from the floor has made some inside ties snap right out of the stitching bc it's WEIGHTED and HEAVY. I suppose you may have less of a problem with this duvet if you keep it on top of all other bedding, but i have cute comforter duvets i want on top, so sandwiching it between my comforter and flat sheet was the WORST. the velour direction was one way on top then the other on the bottom so my comforter slipped off the bed every night while my sheets wrapped around my chin. Very annoying bc it's so heavy to put back in place. Also! Beware if you have pets because i got this to keep the weighted blanket fur free and while it did do that it also just magnetized all fur to it instead and the waffle stitching makes it tough to use a delinting comb because the tines snag the stitches. It is also very heavy on its own (which i don't mind, the Amazon basics weighted blanket isn't that great either imo, the beads in it are plastic and they do eventually all fall to one edge) and very very warm so i sweat a lot at night which sucks because it's so bulky it's a bit hard to wash and you can't really?? Wash?? The weighted?? Blanket??? (I tried, scared myself thinking i broke my washer ((IT'S A BILLION LBS WHEN WET)) then had to wash it the rest of the way by hand in my bathtub then get my 6'4" brother to help me lift it to hang over a thick bamboo rod to drip dry with bins all under it! I made a huge mess and was soaked head to toe bc i had to carry it on my back lmao) Anyways. I wish there was a REGULAR COTTON FABRIC duvet for the weighted blanket. Is there one? I suppose I'm going to buy a regular duvet and quadruple stitch my own ties into it. Sigh. What a pain.

Would give 5 stars if it came with a cover to be able to wash it.
