Mind Reader 9-to-5 Collection Mat

Trying to find the right words to review this product has been quite difficult... I'll start with the packaging. I had some concerns when I first received the package. It came in a rectangular box that's length was roughly the width of the mat and probably 4.5 inches wide. This may be great for transporting but when you ship an item that is thin, long, hard, and plastic in such a container it has to be condensed somehow. The shipper opted to roll it so it would fit in the box. I don't have much experience with shipping things of this nature so maybe it is the industry standard to tightly machine roll thin, long, hard plastics and then zip tie it even tighter. When I attempted to unroll the mat I had to struggle to budge it and as soon as you do, it snaps back into place. Now add in little spikes and imagine how that feels on your arms and hands. I managed to unroll the whole mat once by laying my body weight on it and having it struggle against me. As a 5 foot 11.75 inch tall individual weighing in at roughly 220 pounds (some of it is water weight) you'd think my body weight would be enough to subdue this item. I could feel it fighting beneath me (that could also just be muscle spasms from being out of shape and trying to unroll this monstrosity). As soon as I got off of it, it snapped back up and rolled its self shut. I had to walk away from it and leave it over night with the hopes that it would loosen up a little bit... I was wrong. This morning I attempted to unroll it again and stack boxes on top of it, it's slowly eating one of my boxes and I'm too afraid to try and get in-between it and the box. I highly doubt anything is going to get this to lay flat so once it's done chewing through the box I've now sacrificed I will be returning this product.
