Keeps my dog busy and happy for a bit
By Donna F. on Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2025
This is an easy to manage enrichment item. Dog will easily figure it out without coaching. I have a 17 lb dog so put some kibble, a few small treats, a few tiny dollops of his wet food, sometimes a few smears of peanut butter in random places on the 3 trays. He loves it! He spins the trays licking and looking for the items. He keeps revisiting each level checking to be sure he didn't miss anything. Keeps him busy for about 15-20 minutes and he goes back to look again if I leave it on the floor. I usually pick it up so he isn't disappointed when its empty. It's a little noisy as he rotates the trays and if he paws at it but worthwhile to entertain and treat him occasionally. I've even sometimes feed him his whole kibble breakfast in the tray just as a change in routine for him. Seems pretty durable. Though he paws at it, I don't see any scratches or marks. It's heavy enough so my little guy can't pick it up or chew on it. I'm not sure if a bigger dog could though. I rinse it every few times so it isn't dirty, etc. So far, I'm impressed with it.

I bought this because friends say it keeps their dog busy for 20 to 30 minutes each night. Well my dog must be a genius because 3 minutes but it’s well-made and she won’t hurt herself on it And now she waits for me to fill it up each night so she can munch treats.

One dog loves it! Pretty easy to rinse clean, a bit hard to separate the layers imho. Sturdy, fun

I rinse it clean without taking it apart, using the wide spray on the kitchen sink, because I find it difficult to take apart and put back together without making a mess. The fastener clip is small and hard to manipulate. However it rinses off pretty easily, you just have to spin each layer. (Use the gentle or wide spray to avoid water going everywhere. It easily holds about one 13oz can of dogfood. It takes about half a can to fill it enough to make it worth the dog's time imho. My 23lb corgi mix loves it. She can focuses on getting every lick out of every layer, and keeps her busy a while. It has helped her tremendously slow down on her meals and also provides enrichment and entertainment. 13 lb chihuahua mix is less thorough, he grabs what he can easily get, and cries for a refill! 10lb rescue chihuahua mix did not understand it at all and is much more toy motivated than food motivated, but he is a picky eater and did not need slowing down. So, for the purpose intended, slow down my vacuum-corgi mix dog, it's worked fantastic, and she also enjoys playing with it. Good for a dog who likes a challenge, or eats way too fast. I love that it doesn't tip over, she hasn't flipped it over yet with daily use. I've used it with both small dry kibble and wet food, works fine with both. It's easy to smear canned food onto it even if you don't take the layers apart. Doesn't need to be perfect, she's happy, I'm happy
Great slow feeder!

Great and fun product. Not for strong dogs because they can flip it over easily. Put the bowl in a corner to avoid your dog flipping it over.
Great for smart active young dogs.

I got this for a 7 month old puppy I was fostering, 50 pounds, mixed breed and it was perfect! He just flipped the slow feeders, but needed one, he ate too fast and got the hick-ups. This was the best solution. Food crumbs get under the bottom, but it's easy to clean. My only concern is that a stronger dog could probably break the clear plastic lid part? And it gets scratched by their nails ( this puppy had short nails and it still scratched it), so eventually it will be cloudy, but I am not sure the dog cares about a crystal clear view of the food inside! I would buy it again. The dog was VERY clever and this was a fun way to feed him. He solved other complex outward hound games, this was just for a fun, slow feeding time. Its quiet, and a good value for the money.
Good for active dogs

I have four dogs ranging from 15 to 140 pounds, and all of them can easily use this toy. It is much larger than I expected, but it moves easily enough that my smallest dog, who is 15 and blind but still very active, can still use it. Even if my little guy couldn't use it, it's difficult to find food toys big enough for my Saint Bernard to use safely, and this one fits the bill, so that's a big bonus! It holds quite a bit of food and the rubberized bottom is a blessing for my sanity (and my tile/hardwood floors. I say it's good for *active* dogs because not only does this toy require the dog to use their brain to get the food out, they also have to move their body around to find the food that spins out. I know most dogs will just bop it around and the food will fall out close by, but for dogs like my pit bull who must smash everything as hard as possible, flinging food everywhere in the process, this thing holds up and provides a good all around outlet for mental and physical energy. My only complaint is that the door just sort of sits in there, held in place by a few tabs rotated about a quarter of a turn, making it easy for a pawsy dog like my pit bull to open it accidentally (or an intelligent dog to bite the handle and open it intentionally, which is what my American bulldog did after watching me fill it.) The holes are also pretty large, allowing a good amount of food to come out of each hole with every push. My dogs are raw fed and do not get kibble so I fill most toys like this with chopped up dehydrated meats and organs. I would imagine that if you use a smaller kibble or anything intended for a small breed, this will get emptied pretty quickly. Overall, it seems sturdy, holds a lot of food/treats, is relatively quiet, and is large enough for even giant breed dogs to use, so you can't really go wrong, especially for the price.

Threw Her Into the Deep End—and She Swam Like a Champ

We bought this Level 3 puzzle for our beagle-bassett puppy because she was inhaling her food like it was a speed-eating contest, then running off to rob our older dogs of their dinners. Clearly, we needed a distraction, a challenge, and maybe a miracle. Despite all the advice to “work up to Level 3,” we said, “Nah, she’s smart. Let’s do this.” And we were right. I had to show her how it worked once. After that, it was game on. Within days she was sliding tiles, flipping pieces, and proudly claiming her kibble like a tiny genius. The best part? She loved it. It slowed her down, kept her busy, and even curbed the food theft (a win for everyone involved). Now that she's older, we've switched back to open feeding—but whenever I pull this puzzle out, she gets all wiggly with excitement, like it's her favorite toy and dinner plate rolled into one. Highly recommend for any food-obsessed, overly clever pup. Just be warned: they might outsmart you next.
Works great for a Doberman puppy!

This is great for my Doberman puppy who used to inhale his 2 cups of kibbles in 5 seconds. It is very sturdy and doesn’t get pushed around, easy to clean and does hold his 2 cups of kibble and supplements! It is easy enough for my puppy to figure out yet definitely slows him down to finish his meal. It was a great buy and worth every penny!
Pieces slide super easy

I wish the pieces were harder to slide - I bought this for my two kittens and it took them no time at all to figure it out. I think they just need much harder puzzles. My older cats can’t seem to sort it out, but I wasn’t expecting much from them. It doesn’t slide around my carpet at all and makes no noise.
Excellent Slow Feeder for Small Dog

We were told that we need to have a feeder for our puppy so the food takes longer to eat. This has been perfect for our Schnoolde puppy who is about 12 pounds and 8 months old. It takes him a little bit longer to eat, isn't too hard or too easy to figure out. He sometimes does get frustrated when there is a piece of food stuck, so I pull it away before he gets too frustrated. I did put peanut butter in it once and it was messy! Luckily this is super easy to dissamble and throw in the dishwasher. Our larger pitbulls are jealous of this guys bowl! They try to pick it up and play with it, so I have to be careful because they could easily destroy it.
