If you’re lookin to be on verge of a mental breakdown
By Aly on Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2020
This bed frame is genuinely “meh.” You think, ‘how hard can it be to set up such a simple bed frame by yourself?’ instead of waiting for your roommate to get home to help you. You lay everything out, it looks so easy! But then you try to attach the lengthwise bars, and find that they collapse in the middle while you’re trying to line up the holes to screw them together because this company thought it would be wicked awesome to be able to fold your bed frame when you disassemble it 3/4 of the way. (Side note: the convenience and time saved from folding your 3/4 taken apart bed frame is diminished with how long it takes to get it together the first time) So you finally get the base together and you think, ‘that’s gotta be the most ridiculous part, no way THIS bed frame could get any more complicated.’ But you are naive. ***I am going to give some advice that you should follow if you don’t have someone burly to help you with this: SWITCH STEPS 3 AND 4 FOR THE LOVE OF WHOEVER YOU BELIEVE IN DO NOT SCREW THE CENTER SLATS IN UNTIL YOU’VE PUT THE REST OF THE SUPPORT SLATS IN*** So your roommate gets home just as you screw the center slats in (you’re confused because you had to push the bed frame inward for the screws to reach the hole) and sits on the couch in the living room where she can hear you putting your bed frame together. You think, ‘easy enough, just gotta put these support slats in and I can stop living like Jesse Pinkman with my mattress on the floor,’ not knowing that there is still a good 40 minutes ahead of you. The first slat goes in. Great. Congratulations, you’ve done the bare minimum and absolute maximum of what is expected of you little slat. But then the next one takes force to get in. Too much force. Like “my palms are bruised the next day“ kind of force. Is it because you’re weak? No, don’t worry, I mean you are weak but that’s not why you can’t get the slat in. It’s about 2 mm longer than the bed frame is wide. Your roommate hears you swearing and getting “dad” angry. She is brave and offers to come help. The two of you try for a long time with no success. You use all your strength, you use your brain. You use ~*~physics~*~. Your roommate and you sit on the floor across from each other, legs under the bed frame and feet pushed against each other’s, while one of you tries to push the slat in as the other pulls the bed frame out. It works with one slat. So you try more. And waste time. And eventually you realize that the center support slats that need to be screwed in first are actually shorter than the regular support slats, and are the reason the slats are too long to fit in the bed frame. You go back a step, unscrew the center slats, slide all other slats in fine. And re-screw the center supports. All is well. You put your mattress on the bed frame. The full bed frame is an inch too narrow for your full mattress. Life has no meaning. Thank u 4 coming to my TedTalk. But in all truth, 3 stars- wouldn’t buy again, but not mad enough to make a fuss. Maybe you read that review and thought 3 was too generous. Whatever you decide, please just don’t screw the center slats in before you put the rest in.
