There is a bewildering number of competitive products to this DeLonghi unit that supposedly perform the same function. BUT, this DeLonghi unit really works i well, IF used for a relativity small area. As a bonus, it's simple and easy to set up and use. The fan is whisper quite even at its highest speed. And as you would expect from a DeLonghi product, it's also very stylish. (I personally prefer the dark grey color over the white color option).. *Just make sure to change the water daily for fresh water and be sure to gently wash the tank, and also the easy to remove filter components once a week or so to ensure top performance and that the water vapor stays smelling fresh. I would highly recommend this unit, if your intent is to cool a relatively small area.

I read all the reviews and was convinced that this cooler would meet our needs in an extremely dry climate with a few hot nights each summer. The cooler dropped the temp a few degrees in a 10x15 room but the humidity it added made it feel warmer. It is much more comfortable to have a fan blowing dry air which evaporates body moisture than to add humidity and drop a mere 5 degrees. Additionally the renewed unit that I bought because new ones were back ordered, made an unusually loud noise when the fan was on low. Very dissatisfied overall and will suffer through the summer and buy a traditional single room air conditioner for sleeping!
