Fantastic well-balanced knife
By Dominic on Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2020
I have a full set of Cutco knives, but do not have the Santoku blade. I bought this to replace a 5" Santoku knife that I had which was cheap and always needed sharpening. First off, I love the handle on this knife. It is a real Pakka wood handle and it is slightly wider/thicker than most handles. The thickness makes it much easier and more comfortable to use. Secondly, the German-made blade is extremely sharp and is made of thick stainless steel. The thickness of the steel makes for a very sharp edge that easily slices through the toughest meats and veggies. I used this knife to cut up a chuck roast for stew and it made the trimming effortless. Third, the balance between the handle and the blade is perfect. it feels comfortable to grip and can be used with only one hand. All in all, this is a well-made, nicely designed knife for a great price. Highly recommend.

Sharp, comfortable, well made, but won't stand straight in the block
By Eagle Eyes on Reviewed in the United States on September 28, 2020
I bought these for my mom. In her words, "you'd never know your old knives were bad, until you try a good sharp knife". She uses chef, santoku, utility, paring and bread knives and likes them. The problem is the blades are too wide for the old wood block, so I bought a universal block on Amazon with wide slots, but knives won't stand straight in the block because of the angled bolster. If you use a magnetic knife strip, it won't be a problem, but if you are looking to use these with a block, you may not like them.
