We bought a new-to-us trailer and I thought the mattress was comfortable enough until I laid down on it for 15 minutes with a book to make sure. By the end my hips and shoulders were screaming. I bought this pad to put on it, and it made all the difference in the world. It did take almost 4 days for it to fully decompress, but now I can sleep all night and wake up without any pain.
