DASH 3.5-Quart Compact Stand Mixer

Disclosure: this is my first standing mixer ever. My old handheld died, and we decided to “upgrade” instead of ordering another one. I decided to make chocolate chip cookies with my kids. The mixer just... whips the ingredients to the side of the bowl and then spins freely in the hole it has created. Yes, I used the slider thing. A LOT. I absolutely used more elbow grease standing mixer than I ever used with my handheld...so much so that I felt a little silly and contemplated calling my mother-in-law to ask if this is par for the course as far as standing mixers go (maybe this is normal?? I wouldn’t know, I’ve never owned one!) Constantly turning the bowl back and forth (sometimes it would “catch” and start spinning itself...I thought for a second that I had finally won, but of course that only lasted for a moment before the dough was cast aside to an unreachable corner. Of a round bowl), using a spatula to shove the ingredients back in the path of the mixers, awkwardly digging to the bottom of the bowl to scrape up the dry ingredients that would never be absorbed into the mixture bc the beaters don’t reach that far, frantically remembering that the instructions were very clear not to run the motor longer than 3 minutes lest your motor overheat and turning off the mixer to let it cool down. Rinse and repeat. Many times. I’m kind of sad bc it’s very cute. And I wish I could watch a video of all these 5 star reviewers actually using the mixer successfully bc I’m still not 100% sure what I’m doing wrong here.
