These sure seem like perfect trays that produce perfect ice in a perfectly easy way!

There is not a better ice tray system out there. I can’t believe the complaints... “the lid sticks” ... “the plastic breaks” ... “I can’t twist them to release the ice.” I’m not finding anything like that when using these trays – this is a good set of ice trays thoughtfully made. If your lid is sticking then fill it like it’s meant to be filled.... not to the very top. Remember ice enlarges as it freezes, so leave a little room. Too much water may also be why some have problems removing the lid and/or twisting the tray. Again, I had no such trouble whatsoever... they twist pretty much like every other ice tray I’ve owned. I let the tray sit on the counter while I do other preparations and in just those few minutes the ice slides out just like they say... very convenient, and a nice shape to the ice itself – I think you can possibly get a bit more ice in the glass with this shape. These sure seem like perfect trays that produce perfect ice in a perfectly easy way! EDIT: bumped them to 5-star after using them for awhile. We have an ice maker in the fridge that we’ve detached due to leaks and blocking up. These trays are much better for things like homemade iced vanilla latte because the cubes don’t splinter and fracture so they last longer. I’d assume the same for mixed drinks. [*mini edit*] I ended up removing the entire ice-making feature from our freezer and now have SO MUCH MORE SPACE, which is made possible by these simple trays, which are far preferable to breaking automated ice that has been sitting for months in your freezer. If you’re a heavy ice user, I’d definitely consider buying four. I bought two, and they empty quickly (you can get three tall double-shot iced lattes out of two trays). But they are so easy to stack and find room for with the kids and all... this is definitely a purchase I’m thrilled about. Edit: We've bought two more, and have given four to friends after they saw and tried them at our place. Totally satisfied.

Tricky to fill without spilling; needs flat surface

My previous ice cube tray made basically cube-shaped cubes and the lid didn't lock onto the tray so it eventually warped and the bottom corners of several of the tray cubes cracked. So I thought this tray would solve these problems since it has half moon shaped cubes with no corners and the tray cover slides onto the tray to keep it in place. My biggest disappointments: 1. you have to carefully fill the tray to no more than 2/3 full. Otherwise, the cubes will get too big and freeze to the lid, making it difficult to slide the lid off to get the ice cubes. Then if you don't remove all of the frozen droplets on the lid, when you slide it back onto the tray, they will be scraped off and make a wet mess. 2. you have to carefully fill the tray because the water quickly and easily sloshes over the sides of the tray and makes a mess. 3. you have to place the tray on a flat level surface in your freezer because the bottom of the tray is rounded, not flat. Only the very tiny feet in the 4 corners of the tray are level with each other. I ended up having to perch my tray on top of a smaller rectangular container to keep it level while freezing. 4. the tray is larger than most ice cube trays and the lid is not rectangular so it takes up a lot more space in your freezer than most trays. I finally gave the tray away because I found a less expensive basic covered tray. It makes cube-shaped cubes and has a lid that doesn't lock or click onto the tray but I don't have to worry about water sloshing out as I'm filling it or the lid getting stuck or balancing it in the freezer.
