Best pans I’ve ever had
By Avid reader on Reviewed in the United States on November 28, 2024
I’m writing this review to help those still unsure if these are the pots for them. I was really nervous when I bought these pans as they are a significant investment. I always read the worst reviews first and then read the better reviews. I’m not sure that’s the best approach but because some thought these weren’t the best, I thought for a bit before I purchased. Then I read outside reviews, from cooking magazines, consumer reports, etc and that made me take the plunge. Just so you know, I kept the boxes for an entire month without throwing them away in case I had to return. Then I used them for 6 weeks before I’m writing this review. So you know this is a well thought out and informed review. All that to say, these pans are wonderful. I think people just aren’t cooking with them as instructed. I had never cooked on just low to medium heat so not sure I would like that or it would take too long. The reality is it takes very little additional time because the pans conduct heat so efficiently. I use only silicon tools and hand wash with just a paper towel and dish soap, then hand dry. I store them with the pot protector felt pads that came with the set, as well as additional ones I purchased to make sure pots were protected. The reality is these pots cook like a dream, are easy to clean, nothing has stuck in them and zero chipping or scratching. I’ve used them in the oven and on the stove. I’m sure eventually they will show signs of use, as all well used cooking utensils do, but right now they look good as new. So if you’re still undecided, as long as you use them and care for them as instructed, it’s well worth the investment. Hope this helps you decide!

Greenpan claims chips on the cooking surface are "safe" and not covered under warranty.
By M. Gross on Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2024
I called Greenpan after finding one of my pans had a small chip on the cooking surface (see photo with spot next to the wooden spatula I use when cooking in this pan.) This set was purchased for use in a 2nd home and the set has been stored by itself, as seen in the stroage drawer. We are at this house about once a month and I've cooked in this pan probably 10 times at most. I have another Greenpan from this line at my primary residence, and have never had an issue, and have used it MUCH more. Anyway, I was pretty sure Greenpan would stand by what seemed to be a clear defect. The rep I spoke with quickly encouraged me to send an email with explanation and photo, which I did. To my dismay, this was a quick passing of the buck and a complete waste of my time. I'll paste the response below, since it is pretty self-explanatory - the long short is don't buy Greenpan: ............ "Thank you for contacting The Cookware Company. Chipping is a natural occurrence with Ceramic Non-stick. Chipping up to 1 to 2 mm is a perfectly normal occurrence because Ceramic coatings are very hard – i.e. in the same way as Porcelain Ceramics are hard but not very flexible. Secondly, unlike with PTFE coatings, Thermolon does not require any chemical adhesive primer to stick to the pan. Thermolon’s adhesion relies solely on roughening the pan’s surface before the coating is applied, which creates a natural lock and key adhesion. Any imperfections, such as chipping, are considered a reflection of the hardness of Ceramic coatings and not having to rely on chemicals for adhesion. As the product remains perfectly safe for use if it chips, it does not require a replacement. In fact, the hardness of the coating is one of its strengths because it will be less prone to scratching during daily use. The great thing is that our products do not contain any PTFE or other PFAS, and they are free of Lead and Cadmium. If chipping is present along the rim, it is recommended to use pan protectors. We take great care in reviewing all warranty claims. We have experts who can easily determine whether a manufacturing defect is present. I would like to assure you that your product is perfectly safe for use."
