VEYFIY Floor Lamp

I got the one with the long, thin brown linen shade that the bulb sits in the middle of. It's around 66 inches tall. Assembly was very easy, and the lamp is sturdy and looks nice. However, when I put in my existing 8 watt LED bulb, it was about half as bright as it had been in my old floor lamp with a translucent white plastic shade. The reason is, the lampshade on this lamp blocks a lot of light, rather than diffusing it. The lampshade is an opaque white plastic covered with a layer of brown linen. This leaves a small glow through the lampshade and a small pillar of light out the top and bottom. It creates mood lighting, not illumination. I bought this to brighten the far corner of my living room, not as an accent light. This lamp maxes out at 9 watts, so putting in a more powerful bulb is not an option. The 8 watt bulb I had in it is 800 lumens, or as bright as a 60 watt incandescent bulb. The light I got out of the lamp with the shade on looked more like I was running a 30 watt bulb. The bulb it came with, at 9 watts, is around the same number of lumens as the 8 watt one I used. I'm returning this, I need something that lets more light through. Also, the lampshade is darker than it looks in the pictures. It was like a dark khaki, like the picture was brightened up compared to reality.
