Cartridges worked great, then printer would no longer recognize them - BUT GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE
By Larry on Reviewed in the United States on March 8, 2024
The 822XL cartridges were nicely packaged and I would otherwise give a top score based on my limited use of them. However, after about a month, Epson apparently did a firmware update and the cartridges stopped working. I could not find a way to contact the seller for assistance, but I left a review noting the issue. Within two days, the seller contacted me and apologized and issued a refund. So kudos to the seller for great customer service. Apparently there's a setting to turn off notice of firmware updates, but unsure if that actually stops printer from doing the firmware updates. If firmware gets updated, the cartridges no longer work.

Not compatible with Epson...
By Leslie H. Chambers on Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2022
I originally was wary of buying non-Epson branded printer supplies for fear Epson would recognize the chip in the ink cartridges was not theirs and prevent the printer from printing. These supplies worked when I first installed them (although it required several iterations of calibrating to get acceptable levels of print quality). As soon as I upgraded to the latest Epson firmware, the printer no longer detected any ink and would not allow me to print anything. My daughter had a school assignment due -- so I had to run to Staples and buy a brand new set of Epson ink cartridges, then the printer worked fine. The three remanufactured XL color cartridges I had to replace are almost completely full of ink. These remanufactured cartridges were much more economical than new Epson cartridges -- but Epson controls whether they will work in their printers via firmware -- and as it turned out, they don't want consumers buying remanufactured ink cartridges. I am frustrated with Epson and abhor this type of business practice! At the same time, I am frustrated I wasted $60 on remanufactured ink cartridges that I wasn't able to use with my printer. All I can say is may the buyer beware.
