Almost perfect

I bought mine to take camping so I was looking for a solid unit. Water consumption: I did a test on my patio, starting temperature of 75F 33% humidity, ending temperature of 97F 9% humidity, the 8 gallon water tank, filled from empty with a dry pad, lasted 5.5 hours with the fan on high speed. Compared to my other unit from another manufacturer, this thing is WAY more water efficient. Plan is to take the appropriate amount of 5 gallon Jerry cans with me when camping to last me as long as I need it to. Power consumption, test was done by powering the cooler from a Jackery 1000 portable power station: -fan on low speed, average watts 90 with pump running -fan on high speed, average watts 110 with pump running The Jackery unit uses about 13watts just to run the inverter so keep that in mind. The pump seems to draw 5-10 watts if you want to use it as a fan only in cooler temperatures. Cons: -the back water pad will leak water onto the floor when you start the unit up. If you are indoors, make sure to put a towel behind it -water fill door is a pain to fill from a 5 gallon Jerry can without spilling water, I am going to use a mini battery powered transfer pump -unit is noisy compared to the cheaper unit I own from another company but not bad. I did have a vibration on the front Portacool metal sign that I fixed by putting a piece of double sided tape behind it. Pros: -Built quality is about a million times better than the other unit I have. The entire unit is one piece welded plastic and everything removable is held on with screws. I am confident this unit will survive being moved to camping locations without issues. Just have to be mindful of the exposed back water pad. -Built in low water pump shut off that actually works with a red light on the front that tells you that you need to refill the unit. It also has a water level gauge on the side as well. -Large drain plug in the bottom back. Draining the unit is very quick. -GFCI plug and thick power cord! Surprisingly a lot of cheaper units do not come with a solid power cord or GFCI. This one does. Also has proper cable relieve going into the unit with an Industrial style pass through fitting. Overall, I am happy with my purchase and would recommend the unit if you need something solid that will last.

It does a fair job of cooling My kitchen dining area and family room are all open so I usually keep it in the family room See the towel? This absorbs the water which leaks out of where you put the water so problem solved When you pay this much $ you expect it to work without leaking Also when you call customer service for Portocall you expect the rep to help “ I don’t know what the problem is”🤦🏼‍♀️ and wasn’t interested in trying to come up with solutions The good news for me is that my new a/c unit will be here in a few days and it’s expected to cool down I can also use it if my local energy company decides to shut off power since I have a generator Would I recommend this? Absolutely NOT
