Fantastic Little Percolator !
By R.Hunt on Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2021
My vintage Faberware percolator that I had purchased at an estate sale about five years ago finally burned out and it was time to look for a new one. I hadn't been to many yard sales or estate sales this year because of the covid so I hadn't had a opportunity to try and replace it with another vintage perculator. After pouring over so many reviews of different percolators I was depressed to say the least. The brands I normally lean to, the reviews were either not current or not very good at all. I was also looking for a smaller percolator because I knew I had been pouring a lot of coffee down the drain. I had seen this percolator from Gastrorag and although I was not familiar with the brand the reviews were decent so I decided to give it a try. I've had it now for a few weeks and I am in love! It did take about a week for me to adjust the right amount of coffee and for the pot to "season"like a good old cast iron frying pan...Anyone who's used to percolators will know what I mean. I grew up with them and as a young girl I remember waking up to the smell of coffee throughout the house. But let's talk about this awesome little appliance! As soon as I took it out of the box I knew I had a well made appliance just from the weight of it! It's solid stainless steel which is important. It has a glass knob on top of the lid. There is a plastic washer there but the coffee does not come in contact with it. All the internal parts and lid are dishwasher safe and the actual pot is easy to clean. I'm still getting used to the on and off button. ☺️ I read reviews where some people had a problem with it "over floating" because they were overfilling it. I will admit that the maximum level line is sometimes hard to see when filling the percolator with water but I came up with an easy solution after I made that mistake one time. I use the holes in the spout as a reference. I only fill the water just between the top one hole and the next two and have not had that problem since. Also I had read some people had a problem with grounds getting into the water. I use plain old Folgers from Costco and have not had any problems. This little percolator makes rich flavorful coffee and keeps it hot until the end without burning it. It has an automatic shut off when the coffee runs out along with another awesome feature , you can unplug it and take it to the table and as long as you plug it back in before it goes below a certain temperature it will not start re-perking. So...so far so good. With proper care (following manufacturers instructions) I should be enjoying this little percolator for a very long time!Lastly I'll mention the cool " not a real person" review on YouTube. I got a good laugh & I hope you will too!Update: 2-20-21 There have been some of the grounds in my coffee using my old standby Folgers. But it hasn't bothered me enough to warrant using paper filters. I make sure the coffee settles in the beginning after it's done perking, not overfilling the pot helps and pouring slowly as not to upset what might be at the bottom when you get to the end of the pot. Still with this said, it's an awesome little percolator and I'm very happy with my purchase.UPDATE: 2/26/22 My little percolator is still going strong and still makes such a good pot of coffee that sometimes I absolutely hate it when I have to leave it at home ! ☕☕☕☕☕3rd Update! 7/30/23 My little percolator is still working perfectlyand making the tastiest brew! Well worth the purchase price.4th Update!!!! 1-21-24My little percolator is STILL going strong. Still making the best brew. I can't see how anyone could go wrong in purchasing this item.😋5th Update.I got to thinking...I have never mentioned how much use this little percolator gets....literally every day of the year it brews at least one pot.6th update 3/1/25Coffee percolator is still going strong. I must admit that a few months ago I thought of purchasing a backup and it wasn't available. I'm going to get serious now with my hunt for a replacement. 🤔

Gasgtrorag does not respond to complaints
By Shelley on Reviewed in the United States on May 26, 2022
I purchased this coffeepot in March, 2022. I have been having intermittent problems with it. Sometimes it perks fine, sometimes it perks a few times and then stops and the coffee is just light brown. Sometimes it doesn't perk at all. By the time I realized there was a problem, it was too late to return it to Amazon, so, according to the instructions in the owner's manual, on April 29, 2022, I sent an email to "service@gastrorag.com" explaining the problem. and I have not received a response from them. On Friday, May 20, 2022, I sent a message to Gastrorag, through Amazon, explaining the problem and asking for a replacement pot to try. I again sent a message to Gastrorag on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, through Amazon, and still have not heard from them. According to the warranty info, "If for any reason there is ANYTHING missing, incorrect, not fitting, different than you expected, PLEASE reach out to us. We'd love to have the opportunity to take care of you and provide total satisfaction. Simply go to your order page, and send us a message." So I have tried to get satisfaction but Gastrorag does not respond. I would not recommend that you purchase this pot or any other product from this company.
