Would recommend for post-neuter under some supervision!

I really researched a lot of suits available on Amazon before landing on this one, and I’m really content with my purchase. I bought a size small for my 1 yr old 10lb pomernian with lots of fluff after his neuter, and this size was great. The material is soft and comfy for him. It’s thinner but is pretty good quality. A loose thread or two, but nothings ripped and has helped up perfectly. I bought it because my little guy was having a tough time with his cone. We could barely chew his bones or use his food and water bowls, and he was getting pretty frustrated. I think he was more bothered by the cone than the stitches! He was much happier with the surgery suit. He doesn’t like clothes or wearing anything, but he didn’t seem bothered by this one bit and slept in it with no problem. Although I looked for suits that he would be able to go potty in with removing them, most of those options likely wouldn’t have covered his incision area. This surgery suit covers his incision area very well! However, if he sits up, he’s able to wiggle his tongue down the leg holes and get pretty close to it. It’s definitely difficult for him to reach it and provides a lot of protection, but for this reason, we only use the surgery suit when we can still supervise him, and use the cone when we’re asleep or away. Still worth it in my opinion. If you’re looking for a total cone replacement, I think an option with pant legs may be your best bet. I was also concerned that removing the lower half for potty time would be a hassle, but it’s really simple and fairly quick. Maybe takes 15 seconds if he stands still, but about minute if he’s a wiggle worm.

Not meant for longer dogs

My boy recently got neutered and I knew that a cone wouldn’t be comfortable long-term as it’s recommended to have them wear it for at least 7 to 14 days. So I got I bought the suit. It came promptly and looked really good. Visibly no tears it fit him in every way, except for length. He is a dachshund and because of that long ways it sits funny, but it works well enough. (you can see the photo that the belly band is pulled, and not straight across the belly and that the neck line is pulled towards the back as well. Due to him being longer than it was made for.) 😅 As long as you don’t have a dog that’s known to be particularly long. I think this will work well

A must-have instead of the cone of shame.

Worked surprisingly well. This is the first dog I’ve had spayed myself. Usually rescues have been spayed by the time I take them home, so wasn’t prepared for the agony and vomiting after surgery. I wanted to avoid the cone of shame, I figured it would be torture after the confusion and pain of surgery. After the first vomit I remarked how grateful I was she was in this bodysuit instead of a cone. Her head would have gotten vomit all over it, poor girl. By the fifth time that night I was simultaneously swearing I would never put another dog through this and admiring the genius of the person who came up with this bodysuit. I was worried she would be able to get her snout between the overlap of top and bottom of the suit but she never did. The only time she went for her stitches was when I took off her suit. I was able to roll the bottom part over her tail and secure it so she could do her business outside without getting it dirty. To be honest, the first time out I forgot to do that so she peed through her suit 🙄 but I’d ordered two other suits to rotate over the 10 day recovery, so lesson learned. My dog is a 44lbs golden doodle, medium all around but based on reviews, ordered an XL. I don’t know the size difference between L and XL but I wonder if the L would have been too small. As others have mentioned, the length of the back should be a little longer. These XLs worked well, and protected her stitches, all while eliminating the misery of wearing a cone.
Perfect, but size is inconsistent and shrinks

I'm giving this four stars because you should consider it but be aware of some facts first. It turned out perfect for my dog, allowing her to heal a large incision without having to wear a cone but generally the quality of this product is just weird. In brief, it could be absolutely perfect for your dog but if you can, it would be smart to order more than one in different sizes. If you know your dog is going to be having a surgery maybe buy it ahead of time to test it out. My female dog who had a splenectomy and would have had to wear a cone for over a week without this. Her incision runs in a straight line on her underside, from about her sternum to her pelvis. The onesie covers all of her body other than her legs and there is no way she'd be able to take it off herself. She seems perfectly comfortable though and doesn't try to. It's very easy to get on if she's standing and pretty easy if she's laying down and can't get up. With some onesies you might have trouble with peeing and pooping but this is perfect because you can easily undo the velcro, pull the back end out through her legs and tail, then fold it forward on her back and fasten it again. It takes 5 seconds and frees up her rear end so there's no mess. You could also easily put it over a diaper. The problems are that the size is all over the place. I have one that is very snug, one that's quite loose and one in the middle. Another is a good fit on the top half of her body but the lower part that covers her butt is very loose. If I were trying to cover her butt or hips and she was trying to get at it to lick, that particular one would be useless because she could get her snout in the openings. But the other 3 I bought would totally work for that. There is kind of a loop thing on the top of her back where supposedly you should be able to have the velcro ends underneath but it is impossible because the opening is nowhere near wide enough to fit the strap in. Like by an entire inch. It's not necessary though because the velcro is very strong. I don't think it would add anything for me to be able to hide the ends under that. Every one of these I've purchased has a different size opening too, which is extra weird. I get the feeling that whoever is making these is just cutting the fabric freehand without a pattern because they are so insanely irregular. One more thing about the size is that I went with an XL because it's what I could get delivered overnight and figured I'd try just in case so she didn't have to wear a cone, but I never would have thought she'd be an XL but a L would not at all be big enough. Still, I wouldn't say specifically to size up though because the size is so unpredictable from one to the next. Other problems are that it shrinks a bit when you wash it which is a problem if you got one that is already snug. None of mine shrank so badly we couldn't use it though. Dry on low heat because the velcro gets stiff and curls if you dry it on high heat. The fabric is thin so don't think this is going to keep a skinny dog warm but I was happy to have something covering my girl's shaved belly because it is winter right now. If you need a onesie or want to try it out to avoid having to use a cone, I do recommend trying it if you want a solution to avoid the cone. But, if you can order multiple sizes and return what doesn't work for you I would recommend that. If you can order more than one even of the same size it might work out because the irregularity could make one fit well but not another of the same size. Also, if you can order other brands to compare it would be a good idea. Check out what the return policy is first. I would never normally recommend something of this poor quality, but for me it was really worth it because my dog's incision is big and otherwise easy for her to scratch and lick and with how hard it is for her to walk right now a cone would be terrible and she'd be falling down all the time if she tried. She has been through a lot lately so I'm glad we had these.
These are the best!

So, I have a small 9lb dog that we got the first of these for back in 2021 after she had bladder surgery. We got them for the incision protection but quickly discovered that bladder surgery came with some in continence issues while healing so we were able to add a poise pad to the garment and it worked great. Now, 4 years later, our old girl is having trouble letting us know in time and I ordered a couple more "pajamas" for her. The price has gone up significantly in 4 years and I tried (and returned) MANY others before coming back to these. The thinner band at the neck make it much easier to get it over her head and not have to feel like I'm forcing her paws through the holes. The wrap under the belly and velcro on the back lets me snug it up better that the ones that velcro in two spots on the rump. The fabric of the original PJs has held up well so I was OK with investing a little more to get what I wanted for the 2nd set. Pictures show how I shortened the lower "flap" just a bit and also created a pocket that helps to kind of roll the pad up under her bottom without it having to be too tight. She HATED the dog diapers that cinched around her waist but very comfortable in these. :-) IMPORTANT: Make sure that you put the velcro tabs together when washing and I would advise putting it in a laundry bag because the velcro will grab everything. :-) Because the velcro is so strong, don't just pull it from the edge of the fabric - hold onto the velcro, too.
Life Saver. Amazing. Wonderful.

My dog could not sleep with a cone on after getting an abdominal surgery that needed to drain and couldn’t have stitches. This helped her be able to sleep AND made it so that we didn’t have to cover every surface with towels, blankets, and puppy pads! I got 2 sizes and with the bigger one, she looked like she had a full diaper lol but she couldn’t get into it. She has a weird body shape and it still worked great! She has a floppy, low hanging belly of mammoth fat and a thick neck (lots of loose skin from losing a ton of weight after I got her) but this worked great! The material seemed comfortable and washed well- I just put it in a delicates bag so that the Velcro wouldn’t attach to everything. This didn’t interfere with her mobility at all, and I used it for several weeks until she was 100% healed so it lasted with no issues.

My dog recently got neutered and tends to lick around his private area, so I needed something to help protect his stitches. This puppy suit worked perfectly! It prevented him from nibbling at the surgical site and kept everything clean and safe. I originally ordered a size Large, but the X-Large ended up fitting him best—it’s not tight at all and gives him plenty of comfort around that sensitive area. Another huge plus: potty time is a breeze! You can simply pull the suit up and fold it out of the way without needing to remove it completely. It’s super convenient and stress-free. I absolutely recommend this suit for any post-surgery pups!
Good for dog warp (diaper) coverage

Note: I would suggest if you have a dog like I do (shaped a little 'funny') go by the length of your dog as the more important measurement as it has to fit around his neck, down the length of his body, and his tail has to come out of the back opening - if it's too short, it will not fit around the tail or it will be too tight and it will be uncomfortable for your dog. My Bear had surgery recently but I didn't know about these recovery suits - wish I had! Though I wouldn't have used it when he was left alone as they aren't foolproof if they don't fit just right for every sort of dog--Bear is a long-haired chihuahua mix. However, he could have worn the cone a lot less if I had bought one of these. Bear is a housebroken dog but for a reason we can't yet figure out he suddenly has been having accidents here and there. It was suggested I get him male wraps (diapers) while this is happening, or for as long as it is happening. This recovery suit keeps the wraps covered very well and on his body, for those times when I have to leave the house. Very easy to put on him. The video shows how if you have any trouble. It also shows you how to roll it up so your dog can go putty but since I'm using it 'off-label' and not for surgery, I don't need that feature. The fit is not perfect. I bought onesies from this same company that are excellent and the fit is so much better!--those 'hug' him comfortably but since they are made for a different purpose, it's easier to fit it to his body than this recovery suit. I use the onesies when I am home and he is wearing the wrap, to keep them on better--he seems to act calmer once I put the onesie over the wrap--the onesie won't cover surgery areas that include abdominal or spay/neuter. But this recovery suit does gap a little in places and fits a little looser. It is more 'tee-shirt' type material that is cooler so it would be good for warmer months or warm house (the onesies I ordered are more fleece type material). Bear has the neck girth of the small; his chest girth is just shy of the small and more on the medium; but his length is around 16, which is on the very tail end of the medium and if it were any shorter, it wouldn't fit. It JUST comfortably fits him from neck to tail. But a large would be way too big. So these sizes aren't ideal as he's a small/medium. The good thing is how it wraps around him and then Velcros over his back and does cover his belly well - it mostly covers the wrap with just a little bit of the wrap showing on the legs. He seems not to mind it and it does very well hold the wrap so it stays put. This is a 'life-saver' when I have to leave the house so I don't worry the diaper will fall off. I laundered it - the Kuoser onesies I washed on cold and laid flat to dry and that works since they fit just right. This one I laundered on warm and put in the dryer on low - but I worry about shrinkage in length so I will be washing on cold and air drying from now on. (For reference, Bear is a bit over 16 inches in length. He's about 17 and a half or so chest girth - he has a sort of pot belly that's about 19 and a half - his neck is about 11. Note that these are not ultra-accurate as I didn't pull the measuring tape tight and he has long hair too.) I gave the Kuoser onesies five stars but I dinged a star on this one only because of the difficulty in finding a good fit. Maybe they need more sizes! That would be my request!

Omg! If you have a female dog that is getting spayed or is recovering from abdominal surgery, you should buy one of these “dog onesies” as we called it, lol! Our female dog was recovering from being spayed and she absolutely hated wearing the cone of shame. She couldn’t get comfortable while wearing the rigid plastic cone on her head (first time wearing a cone) and she was miserable. After about the first 45 minutes of wearing the cone we realized we needed to look into other options for our girl to be able to recover comfortably. The vet had mentioned that our dog could wear a body suit instead of a cone, if she would tolerate it. At that time of loading her into the car to leave the vet, we sort of laughed and didn’t pay much attention to it. I mean, who has ever heard of a body suit for a dog? Well, it was not long and we were searching the internet for just such a suit. We felt bad enough that our extremely high energy, young playful pup was dealing with recovery from surgery, and the many restrictions that she would have to accept, temporarily. She is so energetic and playful, always jumping around the house, inside and out, and always with a toy in her mouth. Toys are such an important part of her daily life/ routine , and we had to take them all away for about 14 days. The vet told us we had to remove all toys that would encourage excitement and jumping/ playing , in order for her to completely heal without any complications from stitches coming open. Our dog had to take doggie downers (prescription that made her less active) to help keep her calm and more relaxed. Even still, keeping her calm and quiet/relaxed was very difficult. With her wearing this “doggie onesie” however, she was finally able to fully relax to sleep. She could not get comfortable enough to fully relax while wearing the cone of shame. While wearing the onesie, she could lick the fabric, but not get to her actual stitches. She excepted the strange new concept of wearing dog clothing and never tried to get it off by herself. Maybe part of this is because we constantly made over her and how cute she was in her dog onesie, lol. The material is very soft and stretchy, just like human baby onesies, lol. The Velcro closure is very strong and secure, yet also very easy to undo and refasten. As you can tell by some of the pics I added to this review, the onesie (Aka dog recovery suit) we purchased did not fit our dog perfectly, because our dog is a mixed breed with a longer body. Our dog is about the size of a full grown Labrador, but taller and longer bodied. Her nickname is stretch, because she the size of a Lab with about 7 inches in length, stretched out in her body. As a result, part of the time her lower neck/ almost shoulder area exceeded past the head opening of the dog suit. Thank goodness for the very stretchy fabric. The dog suit did not fit her perfectly, but it worked and we got through the 2 weeks of recovery. This purchase/item was one of the best things we have bought off Amazon. It did what it was supposed to. It aided in a more comfortable recovery for our dog, not to mention help us to keep our sanity during the process. I highly recommend buying this product if you ever have to get your female dog spayed. Also, I think it might be a good option for female dogs to wear while in heat, to help keep your house cleaner. Could probably work as sort of a dog diaper in that situation. Note: When your dog has to go potty and/or poop you really need to undo the Velcro closure and either roll it up and back (on top of their back) and refasten Velcro holding the fabric out of the way , or , remove onesie temporarily and then put back on. You may want to consider purchasing two of these. That way if one gets dirty or yucky you can wash it in washing machine (recommend air drying) and still keep one on your dog while they are in recovery.

This onesie for our puppy was perfect after her spay surgery. She was so miserable with the cone, but she was perfectly fine once we took it off and put on this suit. We bought two suits to wash one while she wore the other. I struggled to figure out what size would fit our dog. So, I am adding a photo for others to reference. Our Australian Labradoodle is 34.5 pounds and has quite a long body. The large size worked for us. However, be aware that it does shrink in the wash. Be sure to wash in cold water and to line dry. (Hence our rating of four stars and not five stars.) Another tip is to throw treats on the ground for your dog as you undo the velcro to avoid stressing your dog with the sound of velcro.

It works pretty well but I had to make modifications because my dog's surgery was just below the tail in the anal area and it couldn't be exposed. It's hard to have a one size fits all for various surgical procedures. It's still better than a cone of shame and our dog feels comfortable in it. He is used to wearing a jacket outside in the winter. A dog that has never had any clothing on him/her might have a problem.
