This came out at a time when I was actively looking for a slow cooker. I didn't really use a slow cooker before but I was interested in trying simple recipes where you can just add ingredients in the morning and then have dinner ready without further prep. Being busy with work often, this sounded like a great option to have available. I am glad this came out at that time and that I chose it. It has lived up to and exceeded my expectations. This is a very versatile cooking machine. Slow cooker - I think it works like any other slow cooker. Just press the slow cook button or set a custom temp and come back in 5 - 8 hours for a nice hot meal. Searing plus slow cooking - This is a bit of game-changer and a lot like the Instant Pot. You can set the temp to high in order to sear meats in the pot first and then lower the temp for slow cook. I sear and saute meats and veggies first and then set to slow cook. All in one pot and all very quickly. You can also simply use this as another burner when you are using all of the burners on your stove. I use it to simmer sauces while cooking other things on the stove. The controls are simple to use and very intuitive. Also, the control screen is just a glossy surface, very easy to clean. I also love that I have an extra cast iron pot that I can use in the oven and stove. Like I mentioned before, very versatile product. Last, but not least, it comes with rubber handles and place mat to pick up the hot pot and set it down on the counter. Nice touches. I have this and my Instant Pot right next to each other and use them both about 4-5 times a week to make various meals for my family. They are workhorses and I view them as my dynamic duo. They work well and save me time.

I would not buy this dutch instant-pot for rice or oat meal. Unless it is to feed 10-12 people. And please note only the bottom heats so it burns. I personally bought it to replace a crockpot slow cooker to bake a chicken, or beef roast, while I am at work. 7-8 hours. As they say. There is a slight difference between a typical slow cooker and this Instant Dutch Pot. Most slow cookers conduct heat on all sides of the ceramic insert for even cooking. Instant Dutch Pots, on the other hand, have a heating element only on the bottom. I baked a bread per their recipe and instructions. Excellent. Moist in the middle but Flat, 4 inches thick, but that was my first one. Good enough to make Bruschettas’. I then baked a whole chicken. In a normal crockpot I would set it up at LOW for 7 hours and get home, dinner was ready. In this dutch crockpot I sautéed olive oil, onions and garlic .. love that feature.. then trow in the chicken and switch to slow cook (it is automatically set at 203F max) I selected 7 hours and noticed in the instructions book if you select over 4 hours it shows the temperature is “NA” non available?!. I was concerned. Plus the cooker at SlowCook 7 hours showed both light up for SlowCook and KeepWarm!! Not wanting to loose a chicken I switched to Manual #2 at 400F for 3 hours considering after 3 hours the “keep warm” function will kick on. Giving 6 hours of heat so one hour without before we get home. Well I was home Testing.. after 3hrs I opened the lid and found a burned bottom chicken. Pic I will keep this dutch pot as I really like the sautéed option before baking any meals. I want to try make a leek soup. Pea soup. Lasagna. I am confident that I will find a perfect setting And will try again the chicken under the SlowCook option with the “keep warm” option for 7 hours after I found online they say that … Slow cookers cook between 190-210 ℉ (88℃) on the “low” setting. So hopefully SlowCook- Keep Warm will work at 203F for 7 hrs to bake a chicken that as internal temperature of 75C / 165F when I get home after 7hrs. Otherwise it will end up in the oven.. the great thing about this Dutch pot. The pot is oven safe like Le Creuset French oven Pot.
