The Best Canister Vacuum I’ve Owned
By Brannon Smith on Reviewed in the United States on December 24, 2022
I’ve been using a upright for awhile and decided I missed having a canister vacuum. I decided to go with the Shark Canister Vacuum, and I made the right decision. This vacuum has the best suction of any canister vacuum that I’ve owned. It has three suction options/speeds. Low, medium, and max/high. The low setting is great when you need to vacuum rugs and you don’t want the vacuum sucking up the entire rug. The medium setting is great for bare floors and the high setting is good for that stubborn pile of debris that just doesn’t want to come up. This Shark Vacuum is lightweight and easy to maneuver around the house. I can pick the entire unit up with just one hand. The beater brush attachment has two speeds. Low, and high. Low is for bare floors and high is for carpet. This particular beater brush works great on my hard surface floors. I keep it on the low setting and it works great. This canister comes with three attachments. The electric beater brush, a crevice tool, and a upholstery brush. All work great. The cord is long at 25 ft, and is retractable at the push of a button. The vacuum sets on four caster wheels that swivel. This is a bagless machine so there are no messy bags to deal with. Just empty the dirt container with the push of a button and that’s it. Shark does recommend cleaning the filters about every two months. Overall this is a great machine to clean with. I find it easy to use and move around the house. I’ve always been happy with each Shark Vacuum that I’ve owned and this canister is no exception. Very pleased with this purchase!

Ok but disappointing Edited

Edited: the more I us this vacuum the more I HATE it. Emptying the dust bin requires me to take it apart in 2 places- my hands get filthy every time. The hose has no swivel and is constantly crushing. I can’t wait to take this thing outside and take a sledgehammer to it. Bottom line, the machine performs like it should, but leaves much to be desired specifically with usability and accessories. My house is hardwood with a mix of different types of area rugs (wool, synthetic, FLOR squares) and we have both long and short haired animals. Pros: It's a bagless canister (something difficult to come by) I do have significantly reduced hair wrap (long haired people and animals in my house) Controls are easy to operate Seems to be a bit gentler on carpet fibers, specifically wool rugs Pretty quiet, comparatively Cons: Accessories are terrible quality and not user friendly Who in their right mind puts accessory storage on the hose? Availability of different accessories is equally bad - good thing most of my older shark accessories still fit No bumpers on canister for furniture protection Difficult to disengage handle from hose for short reach cleaning Dust bin is a nightmare to empty - I have to take mine apart in two places My biggest pet peeve - No hard floor brush!! The fact that the makers of Shark refuse to admit and manufacture a proper tool for picking up dust on hard floors is beyond me. The power head does not perform the same as a brush specifically designed for wood floors. I believe this is one of the first true canister models for Shark and it leaves much room for improvement.
