Lightweight, powerful & maneuverable.
By Michele M. on Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2025
Wish I had retired my heavy Dyson and bought this sooner. I bought the corded one, which occasionally gets in the way of my vacuuming trajectory but it's powerful and consistent suction. Connections are easy to reconfigure. My right arm is in a cast and I have been able to vacuum my house w/my left arm because of this versatile Shark unit. Only drawback is that with 3 dogs, the small dirt receptacle must be emptied 2-3 times to finish vacuuming my 1960 sq ft home. But its technology excludes rollers that would clog with long hair. so on the whole, I am pleased with the value and functionality.

Broke too soon
By Curly Shells on Reviewed in the United States on February 18, 2025
Con: broke soon, just after “warranty” (this outweighs everything else) I bought my unit refurbished, around $78.When I bought it, the reviews were mixed, but just a bit more “good” ratings. It was great at picking up everything for maybe 8 uses in a 1000sq foot wood floor and a 10x10 carpet rug. I think by the 6th use, some black plastic parts came off by itself while in use and got eaten by the brush. I do not see where that part coujd have come from but the brushes seem intact. Bit by bit those small parts just suddenly came off and naturally gets stuck in the brushes. It didnt seem to affect the cleaning ability of the carpet for 3 more cleaning sessions. By the 8th use though, there was definitely a loss of suction, loss of that self-propelling forward feel in Shark vacuums (I had an upright Shark) and maybe by the 10th, it barely picked up dust or debris although the brushes roll well and there is nothing obstructing the tubes or canister. Whether I used the bare floor or carpet option, it will not pickup dirt. It can pick up stuff if you just use the tubes and not the floor head. I also do not like the heaviness of this hand vacuum. This is not really a con but more of preference. I purchased a hand vacuum because I thought it looked sleeker than an upright, but not really since the top is huge and it is very tall. This vacuum can not stand on itself, and occupies about the same space as a small upright vacuum.

Long story short, we have a vacation rental in Maui, and almost every vacuum we bought would last only a few months before we had to replace it. We get a lot of sand in the Condo. Apparently sand and vacuums don't mix well. So we found the Shark UV580 Stick Vacuum, Blue on sale at Costco for a bunch more money than on Amazon. It's lasted over a year now and still going strong. We have a Dyson at home, but with a new puppy in the house, it wasn't keeping up with all the dirt and dust from the dog. So, we thought that we would give Shark UV580 Stick Vacuum, Blue (Renewed) a try since it worked so well in our Condo. Well, it works better than the Dyson. Now we give the carpet a once over with the Dyson and come back through with the Shark UV580 Stick Vacuum, Blue (Renewed) and it gets up a ton of dirt and, dust and dog hair that the Dyson didn't get. It's a great vacuum. I as an electrician prefer the corded model. The battery version doesn't work quite as well as the corded version. I took a Temp Job in another state and bought a third Shark UV580 Stick Vacuum, Blue (Renewed) for my apartment. And it's getting the job done. Pros: Lightweight. powerful for its size. Small footprint. Easy to store. Works better than our Dyson. Cons: Just one, the vacuum head is kind of small. All and all, for the price point and the great vacuum, you can't go wrong.
Refurbished, looks almost new

Straight out of the box: Came well packaged, cardboard supports to prevent shifting during transport. Only minor surface scratches and some small imperfections that you wouldn't notice unless you were looking, otherwise it's shiny and new. Overall, very well refurbished and runs well. Suction is pretty good as well. I ran it over different surfaces as soon as it was assembled and there's no issue there either. I would say that it is very easy to use right out of the box. It is pretty heavy compared to other stick vacuums but it is also pretty tall. I'm 5ft2in and it's at least 4ft if not 4.5ft.

Can I say WOW! I’ve always used ‘inexpensive’ vacuums. I was never taught that buying some things higher end can make sense in the long run. I’ve since learned but hadn’t realized what I was missing in the realm of vacuums!! I have wood floors with many carpets throughout each room. My last vacuum is a battery powered ‘rechargeable’ model. I spent maybe 125$ on it. The most is ever spent on a vacuum! It sucked! Well, it didn’t suck! At all. The suction was terrible. It was ok on wood floors but was only picking up what was on top of carpets at best. I realized that a corded option was the best way to go so I almost bought another crappy brand and then saw the Shark refurbished. For 55$! I thought…. Refurbished? That’s weird. Someone else’s vacuum? But a shark! I’ve always wanted a Shark! Well! I couldn’t be more impressed! My son put it together and really enjoyed that the handle, canister click in and long tube all assembled and mimicked a Star Wars gun! Anyway!! Then we put the foot on. It’s looks really cool too! Plugged it in and wow! I could hear the power and suction! I was now in a different world! The world of ‘nice’ vacuums! My son proceed to vacuum all our rugs! He was having a blast and showing me how the canister was filling up with each rug. It was disgusting! I can’t believe what was NOT being picked up for so long. I won’t share a picture as I’m sure you get the idea. My rugs look like they have been professionally cleaned! Seriously! I’m blown away. I’ve never been in love with a vacuum! I’m now in love with this slick gorgeous little gem! It moves so smooth. The head swivels with ease and is low enough to go under furniture. The cords is long enough I can plug it in once and vacuum the entire living room and kitchen/hallway. The canister is super easy to release and empty. I couldn’t be happier. So impressed!! I’ll never go back!! Shark is the way to go and refurbished just makes sense all around. It looked new in every way except some scratches on the side of the foot. Otherwise looked brand new. So happy! Thank you to whoever refurbishes someone’s old shark so I could have one too! I’ll take great care of her! :-)

Yes!! I’ve worked with many vacuums as a professional housekeeper. Hylas are my favorite but they’re huge and require a timely setup. So many times, you finish cleaning, and BOOOM an accidental mess occurs and you don’t have time or energy to bring out the pro tools. Sometimes you need a pistol when you can’t get your AR loaded fast enough, am I right?? Lol making jokes, but seriously! Is lightweight and easy to get out and use, easy to dump the collection basket. It has a light and an accelerator so you don’t have to put so much pressure into forward and back motions. Again, as a professional, this is matters a lot to me. Easier on the joints and muscles. It has a powerful suction! Again, my hyla vacuum is the bomb digity bc it has a German powered motor generating suction. This little shark vacuum packs a powerful punch!!!!! I’ve bought several small vacuums like this over the last 4 yrs, and THIS Shark scored the apex predator award of lightweight vacuums!!!! Now, go on!! Get ya one!! 😉

I was looking for a light, functional and budget friendly stick vacuum to use for light cleaning because my Dyson ball vacuum is too heavy in spite of its superb cleaning! At first I tried some cheap ones and ended up returning them for their suction power was too weak. But most of powerful stick vacuums were too pricy for me. Then on Jan Costco was having a sale on Shark vacuums so I decided to try one of those after reading many positive reviews. While I was reading Amazon reviews of Shark vacs that are on sale at Costco, I came across this refurbished one. Looked like so many have bought this and were happy about their purchase and it was less than half price of Costco sale price for the exact same model. I’ve been using this for about a month now, I’m more than happy with this. It’s very light and easy to maneuver around floor, around table, under the bed or desk. One of the big reason I picked vacuum was the reviews said that it’s very light but powerful. Specially I liked its suction power, it’s almost as good as my Dyson ball vacuum. I hope this lasts longer. Switching wands or tools were easy and emptying dust was a breeze! It doesn’t need vacuum bags. It’s refurbished but it’s renewed by Amazon team to look and function like new with Amazon guarantee.
A Powerful Little Vacuum

I bought this vacuum in the hopes that it would replace our dinky little Dirt Devil Power Express Lite that seemed to never get everything up and BOY did this little Shark vacuum really live up to my expectations. I vacuumed half of our living room (which had been vacuumed less than 2 days before) with the Shark uv580 and had to stop to empty a FULL tank. I got so excited (and disgusted lol) that I ended up vacuuming our whole house, and enjoying it. I decided to test this vacuum against our old one by running the old one in our bedroom and then running the new Shark right after. The difference was staggering. The Dirt Devil had gotten up some of the dirt and dust, but was nowhere near full. Maybe just a handful of gunk. The Shark, however, was once again FULL. My partner and I's minds were blown. Not only is this vacuum's footprint just as small as the small dirt devil we had before, the cord is loooooong (reaches most rooms in my house without having to unplug but then again we live in an apartment) the suction power is amazing, it's easy to clean and even breaks down and clips together if you need to store it in a space that's too small to fit the whole thing upright. The ONLY con I see with this vacuum is that it's top heavy (much like all of these upright models) and your arm can tire if you're using it for long periods. That paired with the way this vacuum just GOES on it's own can make it kind of difficult to, say, bend down and move cables out of your way. I have adapted to the second part of this con by just clearing my way before I start the vacuum up. For the way this vacuum runs I'll take the single con any day, especially at this price point. It really feels like I got the $300 quality of a shark vacuum for a measly $50. Get it. Get it. Get it.
It works great for my needs.

I like Shark vacuums, this is my third. I gave my first one to my daughter when her vacuum died. Gave my second to my son when he moved to his own place. So I’m a fan! I did purchase a cordless vacuum (not a Dyson or a Shark) and while it’s ok for my kitchen floor, it just isn’t powerful enough for thick carpeting in my bedrooms. So i decided a corded model would be more powerful. This Shark was advertised as Refurbished in Excellent condition and seeing it was a great price, i bought it. I like the performance on carpet for sure, great suction. I like the ease of removing the dust cup for emptying. I like the floor option button which lets you choose hard floor or carpet.I love the long cord! And the way the dust cup/handle combo attaches to the tube at the base for easy upright storage. I like the small footprint-it easily stores away. As for the condition overall, I was thinking excellent condition meant “hardly used-no visible wear and tear” Maybe that was a misunderstanding on my part. It does look quite used on the body. But the brush rolls (2 since it’s a duoclean model) were new. If I had listed it, I would have advertised it as “used/good condition but maybe my standards are higher. At any rate, I have used this vacuum quite often since it arrived and have no complaints on performance! And, yes, I would recommend buying used! Thank you, Amazon, for offering such good deals. Edited for spelling
Lightweight and Maneuverable!

I was looking for a lightweight vacuum to keep upstairs and the battery powered ones I tried didn't last the time I needed. I found this corded Shark that had been refurbished and I was leary. I never buy used items, except a car once years ago. This one had great reviews so I decided to give it a try. It is my first Shark. I was hoping I wouldn't get a beat up one and ordered the 3 year protection plan, just in case. It came carefully packaged in a Shark box. I could see a small dent on the metal tube but the attachments looked brand-new and it was clean. One of the reviewers said the mainpole was too long for them and couldn't be shortened. The length did not affect me, and I am only 5'1". As soon as it was assembled I put it through its paces. On my laminate flooring in the kitchen, breakfast room, powder room and laundry room, it maneuvered easily around chair legs, under cabinets and in the space next to the toilet, where my larger vacuum doesn't fit. I have waterhog mats at all our house entrances. This vac easily picked up the bits of dirt, dust, pet hair, sand, shavings (I have horses and a barn) that accumulate there. It didn't matter if I used the carpet or hard floor setting. It still picked up the grit either way. The rest of the house is carpeted with medium pile carpet that is old. On the carpet setting the vacuum pulls itself along making moving it easy. Pulling it back to me took more effort, but was doable, and I am 73. If I went too fast the vac's head would slightly lift off the carpet on the back stroke because it has good suction. To remedy this, I just put my free hand lightly on the pole to keep the vac's head on the carpet.(This isn't an issue on hard flooring.) This vac picked up the nap on our older carpeting which is a plus! I did not mind cleaning the vacuum. The cup isn't huge and at first I could see it quickly fill up with not just pet hair (we have a shedding dog and two fluffy cats that live inside.) but dust and grit from way down deep in my old carpeting. I know this because I vacuum weekly with our German made central vac that I thought was getting everything. I am vacuuming a lot more frequently with this Shark since it is so easy to set up. I think that with repeated vacuuming the dust cup won't need to be emptied as frequently. I do like the way the dust, dirt and hair easily drops out of the dust cup into the trash when I push the button. (I sent one cordless back because the dust and hair wound around the filter and I had to use my fingers to remove it so it would empty into the trash. Not fun.) Compared to my central vac this is a snap to set up. No long hose to drag around. It is light and easy for me to carry up and down the stairs. So far I keep it downstairs and it easily fits in our laundry room closet leaning against the wall. It doesn't stand up on its own but that isn't an issue for me. I can lean it against something or lay it on the floor. The light weight and maneuverability make it easy for me to use. There are some cons. The cord is about 25 feet long so it isn't quite long enough to reach as far as needed. A 30 foot cord would be ideal. Although opening the dirt cup is easy by pushing a button, I was not sent any replacement filters. The directions say to change/clean them monthly. Hoping I am able to easily find the filters online. It would be nice to have a new set included. The switch that changes from hard flooring to carpeting sometimes sticks and has to be pushed several times. I hope this is not a weak point that may fail in the future. I discovered that Shark has so many new models that it was difficult to choose one. For now I am happy with my selection since I was able to buy this refurbished vac for less than $100 including the 3 year protection plan with free shipping. I think that in a two story home with four bedrooms more than one vacuum is needed. As I've aged, I find I am more apt to clean if it is convenient. I still love my central vac for heavy duty cleaning and my cordless for quick clean ups in small areas. But this corded Shark is doing a great job of cleaning upstairs (fits under the beds easily) and downstairs, including on the carpeted stairs, my least favorite place to clean. So this is my honest review of the shark refurbished UV580 extra light corded stick vacuum. Oh, and no hair wrap noticed either.

One of the greatest things about this vacuum is the vacuum head will turn to fit wherever you need to vacuum. Also, my main reason for purchasing was the adjustable levels of power. I purchased some thinner rugs and this vacuumed them very nicely
