Why did you pick this product vs others?: Amazing customer service. Our roborock was having error issues 1 month after the year warranty. The company paid to ship it to them, fixed it and shipped it back within a couple weeks free of charge. Can’t say enough good things. And the product works amazing!!!!

Edited on 8/3/24 to add that not even 4 months after purchasing this will not connect to WiFi anymore. The suction power is frankly...pathetic unless it's on turbo. I've cleaned and replaced the filter which does nothing to help. ----------------------------------------- This is my first robot vacuum. I researched for weeks and decided on this model for a few reasons. 1. It was 49% off. Had I paid full price I would not be as satisfied. 2. The filters are reusable and washable. 3. The required parts including roller brush and little spider sweeper thing are relatively affordable. The filters not so much. I thought about spending hundreds of dollars to get a self emptying unit but I like the smaller dustbin because it forces me to empty often and check sensor cleanliness, if there are any stuck items in the brush, etc. Cons - This thing is clumsy and not always very smart. But it cleans decently using the balanced suction option. For hard floors I've learned to use turbo and max to pick up all the little crumbs, cat hair, crystal litter bits, etc. on tile and laminate. If using on turbo the battery life really suffers. The options in the Roborock app are not intuitive. Even once I've set a no-go zone or invisible wall sometimes this vac still goes where I didn't want it. It just feels very basic and adding said no go zones or walls was tricky seemingly for no reason. The line must turn solid red before you can save. There is no alert if something is stuck. I heard it running in place for several seconds and went to see the problem. A cat toy was stuck but there was no alert from the actual vac or in the app. This vac requires supervision. I do like that I can map multiple levels in the app and once you create rooms you can select certain rooms to clean. Or you can set recurring routine cleaning options. I decided not to invest in a bells and whistles model given durability for all brands of robo vacs seem to be mediocre. If I get a decent 5-7 years out of this I'll be very happy. Even a solid 3-5 years is still a good investment for me. Overall, I'm still glad I purchased it. I live with multiple chronic illnesses and mental illness. The guilt/shame cycle has lessened a lot in the past week because my floors have never been swept this often before. It's not perfect and I still plan to use an actual vacuum at least once every week or two but I can see why having a robo vac can greatly improve the quality of one's life.

I am an owner of Roborock S6 and S6 Max, in the past, I have tried various models of Roomba, but Roborock's performance is far superior to Roomba's. On one of my floors, I don't use the mop feature a lot, so I decided to give this a try. As with all Roborock products, this came in a box well packed, in overall size this is a bit smaller than the earlier versions (S6, S7) which is great as it allows it to move around the furniture more efficiently. It includes a charging base and the robot vacuum itself. There is no assembly required, just plug the base in an electrical outlet and place the robot for charging. There are a few things that are different about this vacuum than the other Roborock vacuums I have tried. First, the charging cord for a base is a bit different and has a voltage converter in the cord instead of being in the base. Second, the dustbin is built into the plate which hides it, which makes emptying the dustbin a bit painful. Overall, the build quality for this robot feels a bit lower as compared to other Roborock vacuums but that is to be expected when it is almost $250 cheaper. This vacuum offers much higher such than my S6 and S6 Max which is a big plus. I ran into challenges connecting the vacuum to the app but part of it was me not paying attention to the instructions as the setup process is a little different than the other Roborock vacuums. On the back of the big board which comes in the box installation instructions are clear but the user manual which comes in the box doesn't seem to belong to this model but to the older models. Surprisingly in the app, it doesn't show the Q5 model as one of the supported models but once I was able to follow the instructions, connectivity was easily established. Cleaning I did the first mapping run, and it very quickly mapped the floor, I felt its mapping was much more efficient than other vacuums as it didn't go along every single wall and efficiently mapped the rooms using a LIDAR sensor. I didn't feel that missing the camera created any issues with mapping, but it did bump into some low-lying obstacles. One of the big things about this robot is that it can climb shag carpets and thick doormats which most the other vacuums can't. My Roborock S6 never was able to get onto them but Q5 managed to climb them easily and clean them. The suction power on this vacuum is great and it can easily suck up large debris. A floating brush is great as it allows it to stay close to the uneven floor, especially when transitioning between rooms. One of the challenges I did run into was that its rubber side brush got entangled in the shag carpet when it was cleaning the floor and I had to come to the rescue. This is a bit of a unique situation as I have this shag carpet in the middle of the room so when trying to clean the floor around it rubber side brush gets entangled in the long bristles of the shag carpet. I had to create a virtual boundary to solve the problem which was easy. Talking of virtual boundaries, software for Roborock is superior to the competitors. The default map is good at identifying rooms and various floors, but any edits needed are easy and quick. I have used the Roomba i7 and it is miles behind Roborock software. It is easy to connect it to google home and use voice commands. I am impressed with the suction power on this vacuum, it is much more than the previous and costlier model and does a great job of cleaning the carpets. Overall, there are things that can be improved on this model but for the price, it is easily the best robot vacuum available. This product has its quirks but I will recommend it over anything else on the market.
Doesn't Need an App, Effective and Efficient Robot Vacume Cleaner

When my old Deebot began to fail, I spent a considerable amount of time looking for a new robot vacuum cleaner. I was looking for one that could handle medium pile carpeting, was efficient at cleaning without supervision or direction, and didn't require an app to operate it. While I know a lot of people like the features apps provide, I prefer to have a robot that doesn't require access to all my personal information. I prefer to just turn it on, let it go, and be confident it will do the whole house without my supervision. This Roborock has met those criteria nicely. I can push the Start (on/off) button, pick up cat toys while it cleans one part of the house, and let it do its job without worrying about it. It takes itself back to its docking station in the laundry room when its battery gets low, and when I can restart it in a couple of hours, it goes back to where it left off and resumes cleaning. One caveat, when it was learning the house, I did have to pick it up and take it to the far corners of the bedrooms a couple of times so it would fully integrate those spaces into its map. Brief key points. Most are demonstrated in the video I uploaded - HEPA filter - it seems to do a great job at getting the dust out of the air. I vacuum the HEPA filter with my wand vacuum after every excursion the Roborock makes on its cleaning journey; I wash the filter every 3-4 excursions. Drop Sensor - It doesn't have any problems understanding that my dark mahogany flooring and sand colored carpeting are on one level. (Demonstrated in video.) However, when I accidentally left the front door open, it couldn't decipher that my dark mahogany vinyl floor, dark mahogany threshold, and dark brown welcome mat 2" down were on 2 different levels. When I heard it go clattering out the door and retrieved it, it appeared unscathed, and has been vacuuming fine since then, but it's a good idea to close outside doors while it's working. Medium Pile Carpeting and Low Pile Rugs Without Tassles - This vacuum cleaner does both exceptionally well. It kicks into turbo within about a minute of recognizing the texture change under half of its body, and keeps Turbo on unless it's mapping the room to do the next 10x10 section, or has returned to flat flooring. (Demonstrated in video) Battery Life - I'm really pleased with it. I've got a 2100 sq ft house, about 1/2 of it has medium pile carpeting. The Roborock can do 2/3 of it before it has to recharge. Reflective Surfaces Like Appliances - It has a little difficulty picking up the location of these, but doesn't crash into them. It does however, bump some of them gently. (Demonstrated in video) Dust Bin - it's huge! Even running 2 full charges of the Roborock vacuuming, the dust bin hasn't gotten full! This surprises me because my cats and carpet both shed. I've found the easiest way to clean it out is to remove the HEPA filter which makes it easy to dump its contents into a garbage can. Edges - the Roborock cleans the edges of carpets and flooring much better than I expected. While I normally move my floor-length drapes out of the way when I start the vacuum, it doesn't eat them when it gets to them, it just brushes their hems. I'm also pleased with how thoroughly it vacuums around the dining room chairs' legs. (Demonstrated in video) Overall, I'm very pleased with this RoboRock that doesn't require anything from me other than general maintenance, and telling it to Start.
Initial Impression - Very nice!

Just got this today and have only run it twice, so here are my first thoughts- Single floor apt, ~750sq ft, 3 cats - Mapping feature in the app is incredible. My precious vacuum (Coredy brand) would run randomly, and did not map anything. It was decent, but missed spots frequently. In comparison, the Q5 has an app that does an incredible job of mapping your home- you can mark off “no go” zones, distinguish rooms, mark off where furniture is. You can check the map at any given time to see what has been vacuumed, what is left, and where the Q5 is. The vacuum essentially outlines the perimeter of a room, and then does lines back and forth to get all areas inside the perimeter. You can schedule cleanings (for full home, or certain rooms, and can also adjust modes to be max mode, quiet mode, balanced, etc) or just click a button to start a cycle at your own leisure. Outstanding. - Suction is impressive. Compared to my old one, this one is PICKING UP some stuff. Haven’t yet experienced it sucking up something it shouldn’t (shoelace, electrical cords, etc) but I’m also in the habit of keeping those off the floor so my vacuum can run without issues. I have 3 cats so there’s a lot of loose cat hair, Q5 seems to grab all of it. - Voice alerts is another neat feature. The vacuum speaks up (in English, but app gives option to change languages which is great) to let you know things. Not sure what all it announces yet, maybe if the battery is low, vacuum is stuck? So far I have heard it tell me when it’s done cleaning, and then when it’s made it back to the dock and is successfully charging. Pretty neat. - Noise level- this one isn’t 5/5 stars, but I’m ok with it. Definitely louder than my last vacuum (maybe is equivalent to an older blow dryer). However, it’s not TOO loud, and I don’t mind the noise as that probably indicates very good suction. A fair trade off. - Size - one tiny gripe would be the height of this unit. I’ve had “shorter” robot vacuums before that were able to get under my coffee table, but this one can’t. Not a big deal, but do note that this unit may be a tiny bit taller than you’re expecting. - ONLY CON that I have found so far is the dust bin. That baby is small. Like, weirdly small. My previous vacuum died on me last week, so I ordered this one and didn’t vacuum for 3 days (I wanted to give the Q5 a challenge lol). On the Q5’s first run, it PACKED the dustbin. I ran it again a few hours later and it was filled again. I do typically run my vacuum daily, so once we get things managed over here it may not be that big of a deal. But if you have pets or you shed like one, and you don’t plan on running this daily, you might have an issue with the size of the dustbin. - Battery life- unsure as of yet, will update this in the future. - Carpet work is solid. I have a very low pile rug that it handles effortlessly. I have medium pile carpet in my bedroom, and while I know nothing will replace a real vacuum (shoutout to to Miele canister vac!), this is still pretty effective. It even leaves faint vacuuming lines in my bedroom carpet, which my old robot vacuum NEVER did. Overall I’d give this a 4.6/5, but since half stars aren’t an option I’ll put it at 4. I do like this a lot, and to be honest I was a little skeptical of all the 5 star reviews, so I’m doing my part to sing its praises *realistically*. But after doing my research and settling on this model, I’m very pleased. Please note that this brand has other vacuum models, including some that I think may mop or even empty their dustbin themselves! Very cool, but since I live in a small one bedroom apartment, I couldn’t justify the price for those features. Other note- I really, really like the app so far. Very informative, and I found it intuitive and super easy to navigate. Vacuum itself came with a quick start guide which made it supremely easy to download the app, connect the vacuum to the app and then to wifi. Smart devices are supposed to make our lives more convenient but we all know that’s not always the case (I’m looking at you, Litter Robot). I think the app and setup guide to this vacuum are 10/10. Photos— 2 pics of an old sponge in the Q5 dustbin for scale. It was the first universally sized thing I could find for comparison, lol. Also pictured is a masssssssive clump of cat fur and dust that the vacuum picked up on its first run. Last photo is of one of the mapping modes on the app.

OK, it has been two years and I am updating my review. I am keeping the 5 stars because the vac is working as good now as it was when new. But it has not been without its ups and downs. After about a year, I began to notice it wasn't picking up nearly as good as it once did and I started looking for new vacs. I stumbled across a review for a completely different product. This reviewer, having the same problem, different product, had found a "hidden" filter deep inside his vac. So, one day when using my leaf blower outside, I decided to use it to blow out the q5. Dust went everywhere and I was amazed at how much the vac quieted down and began suction like new! Apparently I hadn't noticed the increase in noise as the vac labored against restricted flow. It was nothing short of a complete renewal. But, I began to have problems with the cliff sensors. It would falsely sense a cliff and refuse to vac that area. I noticed a buildup of dust INSIDE the cliff sensors. (apparently they are not airtight) With a can of compressed air, I was able to blow out the sensors and it straightened right up, again to like-new efficiency. I have integrated the practice of blowing compressed air into the sensors as well as EVERY crevice that dust could accumulate into my cleaning/emptying routine and now, two years after purchase, I get like-new performance from the q5. I would still recommend this, just be prepared for a still-clunky app that you WILL become accustomed to. Good Luck!! OK, so I'm giving this five stars because it is so much better than I had anticipated and I want people to read this review. The product itself IS five-star. The ap, maybe two. Keep in mind that I haven't had it too long and maybe with a little more experience, the ap might be more palatable. But here goes: I use this in a basement where the floors are mostly smooth concrete, with one room low-pile carpet. As long as you keep the vac emptied, it works great. I have a husky dog and his undercoat shedding is a disaster of epic proportions. It sucks up his hair like a champ on both surfaces. When it gets pretty full, it will dump dog hair and dust at the edge of every rug it passes over. But that's my fault. The robot seemingly wanders around like a drunk, and somehow it unerringly chases after the dog wherever he goes, but it knows what it's doing once it maps out the area. The problems come when you want it to do something different, like just clean one of the rooms. Most of the time, the selection on the ap to select just one room simply doesn't work. Sometimes it does, so I know I'm doing it right. You can install an "invisible wall" but so far it has been impossible for me to put in a HORIZONTAL wall, so I gave up. Putting in a "zone" has been more successful, but still a pain. The only thing in my areas that it will not clean are the door mats, made of very thin carpeting. Hair gets stuck in there and the vac simply can't suck or scrub it up. But that's minor. I can scrape the hair off with a shoe and the vac obligingly sucks it right up. Overall, this was good purchase and I can't imagine dealing with "Operation Fur Drop" without it.

Roborock Q5, is a robot can vacuum only , no mopping function. After I bought the Roborock S7 on Amazon Prime Day last year, the Q5 was exactly what I am looking for. The roborock Q5 will be great suitable for my second floor on my house, my second floor have four carpet room. The coming product box is well packed . It is including the base and the robot two part . By directly plug together, tighten the screws, very simple and easy. Since I already have experience on the roborock app, So I use it more clear and easier 。First of all, I directly added new equipment Q5 on the APP. And let the robot explore the full second floor for the first time. The multi-function room on the second floor of my house was blocked by certain furniture, But the robot is so smart. It could “shuttle “ up and down without any obstacles. The map was completed very soon. Excellent cleaning effect After few days using this product, the Q5 I would say it got excellent cleaning effect. It move around very smart , even the corners of the wall and the furniture, It move in and out , and very closed to the wall. After placing some shredded paper on the floor, the robot went back twice and sucked it, nothing is behind. There were no pets at my home, so the hair and dust will be most dirts on my home. it has such stong suction for the carpet . Every time after using it, I feel clean and happy . Because my boy always like to lie down on the floor when he is playing. After using , the robot it got some hair tangled in a scroll . It better to be cleaned by every time, it is easy. The cleaning effect I will give 4.8 of 5 full score. The robot Q5 is great to helps the floor keep clean in the convenient way. Intelligent voice management By APP we can adjust the amount of the voice , it can be get louder or lighter. And it got night time “silence” mode, it is the least noisy , It is really important function for me. Especially we have a baby boy at home. When the baby take a snap, I can still use it in light voice mode. And also even use most powerful mode , the voice it still be ok for me. Smart Ability to recognize obstacles This Q5 is smart enough , the function to recognized obstacles is so so important for a robot. the obstacles mentioned earlier, the three circular on the robot bottom pedestals identified very well. In places like rooms, cabinets, and walls, the robot won't bump into them, it'll so close to them and do his job. Enough Battery life The battery life it said can last 180 minutes for full use. I remember my first cleaning, electricity shows it is only more than 75%, for my four rooms, is still sufficient enough. When the battery going low, it will automatically going back to Station to charge , after having enough battery it will continue his job and finish it . Overall, it was a very satisfying shopping experience.if you are looking for a robot only be vacuum like me , I will highly recommend this product !!!

As an introduction, we purchased a Roborock S6 Pure about a year a half ago. Overall we have been satisfied with that unit other than some minor mapping issues. When we originally purchased it, we thought we would be using it on multiple floors, but the reality was that it was just inconvenient to move it around especially with only one base. So recently we began looking for another unit for the second floor. As we didn’t need the mopping function for this level that the S6 Pure had, we looked at other models. We ended up purchasing the Roborock Q5 and generally have been happy. The suction on the Q5 seems to be a bit better than on the S6 Pure and other than the lack of mopping capability, seems to function similarly. The app to control it pretty simple and straightforward and allows for various cleaning options – full, specific rooms, number of passes, strength of cleaning, creating no go zones, and so on. It is also easily controlled via my Alexa once you have organized your rooms using the app. One minus of the Q5 compared to the S6 Pure involves the brush cleaning tool which is used to easily clean hair and similar items from the brush roll. On the S6 Pure, the brush cleaning tool snaps into a holder in the unit that is accessible when you flip up the top cover. On the Q5, I can’t actually find a place to put it – there doesn’t seem to be a holder or a slot. It seems strange and maybe it is just me, but there is nothing in the instructions about a place to store it and it should be fairly obvious on the unit if there was one. For now, I just put a piece of Velcro on it and on the base and keep it there. Another minus is the way the dust bin was designed. On the S6 Pure, you flip up the top cover and lift out the dust bin. There is a hinge in the dust bin and you simply swing open the cover and dump everything in it into the garbage can. On the Q5, you also flip up the cover and remove the dust bin, but in order to empty it, you have to unsnap and remove the filter. Unfortunately, while doing this, the dust bin tends to get tilted this way or that and the contents start to come out of the intake hole. You are also then holding the filter in one hand and the dust bin in the other, which makes cleaning it out a bit more difficult. You can put the filter down, but since it tends to be covered in dust (as it should be), you then have to wipe off where ever you just put it down. Weird design choice, but once we got used to this dust bin issue, we are just more careful when emptying it to make sure that we don’t try to empty it over a very small garbage can. Overall the Q5 performs well, and notwithstanding the 2 design issues, we decided to keep it and are pleased with the purchase.

The Roborock Q5 will routinely vacuum my 1100 sq ft single level condo. Purchasing a robot vacuum with a mapping feature turned out to be a great decision. I installed and began using the IPhone app with little difficulty (be sure you have a 2.4g band). Every app has a learning curve, but this one seemed intuitive and straightforward. The first thing I did is send the Roborock Q5 on a mapping expedition. Roborock accurately mapped my condo and divided it into rooms. The first full cleaning took over 80 minutes and the second full cleaning only took 47 minutes. The unit appears to learn more each time it goes out. I can now select full cleaning, room by room cleaning, or I can determine a special zone. There is also a remote control function that I can use to guide the robot to an area for spot cleaning. The only glitch was that the unit "saw" outside into my patio, and tried to go there, bouncing against the window sill as it went along until it was away from that area. This can be corrected by drawing the curtain, but then the area under the curtain may not be vacuumed properly. It's a minor glitch, and has no affect on the overall performance. The flooring in my condo is a mix of tile and low pile carpet. I noticed that the Q5 senses when it is on carpet and seems to increase the suction power. It has four power settings; quiet, balanced, turbo and max. I normally leave it on "balanced", which allows it to select the best level. The Q5 has not become stuck, even when negotiating the maze of chairs under my dining room table. However, it tended to shove my shag bathroom mats around, so I purchased suction style rug anchors to hold the mats in place. This seems to have solved the problem. The unit still has trouble climbing up onto the "shaggiest" mat, but eventually makes it. The dust bin filled quickly the first time out, but now only partially fills during a full cleaning. This will depend on many factors, but I will empty it after each outing. The unit does not seem to be able to sense when the bin is full. I opted for the unit without the self emptying feature, and now wonder if I should have gone for it. I've read that this accessory can be purchased separately, so I may purchase it in the future. There is a HEPA filter that should be brushed off when the bin is emptied. This may not need to be done as often with the accessory. I intend to routinely vacuum my condo twice a week. The unit can be programmed to clean at specific times and dates. The rotating brush is easy to remove and clean. Hair and string will wrap around the brush, but can be removed by simply unwinding. In general, Robot Vacuums receive a disproportionate percentage of 1 and 2 star ratings. For this reason, I purchased a two year extended warranty. So far I'm very pleased with the performance of the Roborock Q5. I recommend it for anyone who doesn't like to vacuum, but still wants to live in a clean environment. I would only suggest that you also consider the self emptying accessory for added convenience.

Great robot vacuum. Really happy with the purchase of the Q5. Its an entry level Roborock with an optional self-clean dustbin. First, I should say the MAP is really good. Works very well. The Wi-Fi should be a 2.4ghz though. It won’t connect to 5ghz Wi-Fi. After connecting the robot with 2.4ghz it does a quick mapping of the Apartment. I should say I was thoroughly impressed with the mapping. It went to all the rooms and showed a very accurate map, and the mapping is kind of 3D. I was shocked to see the amount of dirt it captured on the first run. It went to all the different room. Some rooms have height difference and Roborock went through it pretty well. The App can categorize different rooms and it also have the different floor features as well. I can actually specify no go zones where the robot won’t go. The main advantage I feel is I can schedule the cleaning like when I go to the office, I schedule the clean and when I come back its spot clean. The suction is good, and it picks up all the dust and debris. I was really shocked with the amount of dust I saw after the first clean. I can’t really comment on the battery power as I am having a small Apartment and it does all the rooms in one go. Another thing to note is that it has different suctions on hardwood and rugs. When the Roborock enters a rug, it uses maximum power to suck the dust and in hardwood it uses regular power. This suction is automatic, and you don’t have to do anything. Also, the suction is not too loud, so you don’t get too annoyed when watching TV and robot is running. It uses the old Roborock brush roller not like the one we see in s7 and s7 max. I think the LIDAR robot vacuums does a better job in mapping and cleaning than those with radar. You can also add the device to Siri shortcuts and trigger the robot. Here are the main pros and cons Pro 1.Robot cleans very well 2.App is really good 3. App has schedules where we can schedule the device for cleaning 4.It also has no go zones which helps with the cables 5.If you don’t want to clean the entire Apartment you can do it with just the room 6.It also have support for Auto empty dock which I am planning to get in the future. 7. Max suction on rugs and carpets 8.You can use Siri shortcut and trigger it Cons 1. It may not detect poop. I don’t have a pet, but I am not sure if it is able to detect it. 2. It does not have a mop. 3. It uses old roller. I don’t not have any complaints for the old roller, but I wish it had the new one 4. You cannot add it to the HomeKit
