Amazon Basics Electric Space Heater

at 500 W it provides about 1/3 of the heat of a regular space heater. It seems to me it does not even provide that much heat. You can put your hand right in front of it and it takes a while before you feel much heat. A 1500 word heater will turn on 18 inch long piece of half-inch coiled wire bright red and very quickly burn you if you are close to it . this heater is nowhere near that. When you put your hand in front of it it takes 10 or 15 seconds to figure out whether the heater is on or just the fan .apparently it has no thermostat like advertised and so produces the same amount of heat on every setting. only the fan speed varies with each setting . It seems safe enough. Mine goes off if it tips. Seems durable enough. Mine has been on for two months and seems to be working fine. The lack of a thermostat might be a plus since that is a weak spot in most space heaters that breaks. at 500 W there is no little risk of overheating since the heat generated is remarkably little.
