Excellent customer service and effective device
By Jason T on Reviewed in the United States on April 16, 2025
I love this device. The app allows me to easily set temp thresholds that are equally easy to read. You can chart the entire cook. I don't use the magnet much but it does hold well. I have some issues cleaning the device, especially on the black end. It's been great for 3 years but it stopped charging to 100%, only to 50% and would discharge in minutes. I wrote TempSpike about the issue and they offered suggestions. When those did not work, they sent me a brand new device at no cost. I had an issue with a wired probe about 5 years ago, wrote them about the issue, and they sent me a new probe then too. The support and customer service is EXCELLENT!!! I have several friends that smoke too and if I haven't already told them about these devices, I sent them as gifts.

2 Probes, 2 Cooks, 2 Epic Fails; WASTE OF MONEY
By Vinny P on Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2023
Update 11/28/23: AFTER MY REVIEW, the TempSpike customer service reached out to me and asked me to get in touch with them. In short, they sent me a new TempSpike told me to discard the old one. I used it this weekend and the results were also disappointing. TempSpike was fully charged. Insert d in my turkey on my Kamado grill rotisserie. Result: temperature was way off, intuition told me to use a different thermometer to check accuracy: 2 other thermometers told me my turkey was already done meanwhile TempSpike was reporting that I had 10 degrees to go. That can be the difference if having a moist breast or a dry one. Also, the cook was 3 hours and the battery was all the way down to where it was showing red to charge; this was a 3 hour cook. So, if I had to recalibrate the TempSpike to read correct temperature, the battery is still a fail especially if you were gonna have a low and slow cook like pork butt or brisket. I purchased this is April and had to return it because it wasn’t working. I figured it was a fluke and ordered another one. I used it once and it worked fine. Had to keep the phone on same level as base or I would lose signal. That’s not a deal breaker for me. What is a deal breaker is the fact that I only used this once and the next time I needed it (today) the probe wouldn’t hold a charge even after charging the whole night. I called up customer service and they are sending me out a new one that takes 3-5 days. I was planning on using my Joetisserie this weekend and I was planning on using a wireless thermometer since a wired thermometer on a rotating turkey is just not possible. So my cook today was salvaged because I had my old reliable Redi Check wired thermometer. But I guess this weekend I’m not going to have a choice but check temp sporadically with a handheld thermometer. Thanks Thermopro. You’re 0 for 2 so far. Let’s see what happens when I get the replacement.
