Freaking awesome!

I'm someone who tends to make very impulsive purchases and then experience buyers remorse only to vow to never make superfluous purchases again and fail. I'd been debating on buying a vacuum sealer for several years thinking that I would hardly use it and it would just take up space in my kitchen. Just one of those purchases I couldn't fully justify and get excited enough to make an impulse buy over. I finally made the plunge and bought the Mesliese vacuum sealer and haven't regretted it for a second. I honestly wish I had bought it when I first wanted it several years ago. I'm not even sure why I denied myself for so long now that I actually have it. It saves so much space in my freezer, it keeps things more fresh than foods I've put in Tupperware or saran wrap with Ziploc bags. It's helped me with food prep, for days when I just don't feel like cooking and want something easy I can just heat and eat. It's also helped with food waste, I just vacuum seal my leftovers and save them for a lazy day. The vacuum sealer itself is compact and actually looks so great on my counter! I couldn't be more pleased with this purchase. It's a great price, easy to use, durable (even after I accidentally spilled a bunch of soup on it while it was plugged in), compact, aesthetically pleasing, fast sealing, and overall super convenient. Just a quick note, liquids don't seal super great but I've figured out a work around. I'll still prepare the vacuum sealed bag as normal, but then I'll lay the food flat in the freezer with the open side folded up so there's no leaking, and wait until he food is fully to partially frozen. Then at that point, I'll seal the frozen food. You can kind of see that I've done that with some foods in the pictures. Works great that way!

Updated review, not as good as I hoped

First impression: I was impressed by most aspects of this vacuum sealer. The bags are strong and of uniform shape. The instructions are well above average, clearly written by someone who understands English (which is not so common anymore), and understands the behavior of the unit. The sealer worked and was easy to operate. It's compact and has logical limitations. I REALLY like that it works with other bags. I've owned four sealers in my life and no other vacuum sealer made that claim. The owner's manual is well structured and easy to read. I like the small bag cutter nested in the back of the unit, as I intend to travel with the sealer and do not need to bring extra scissors. We'll see how it works over time, by for now I'm very happy with it. Update: Changed rating from 5 to 3.5 (i.e. 3) Two weeks after purchase, I took it to Alaska to vacuum seal sockeye salmon filets, as I was freelance fishing for a week. The vacuum sealer didn't work as well as I thought it might. I've concluded the vacuum suction isn't as strong as Food Saver, so it's tricky to get all air out of the bag. As with most fish, the back portion of the filet is much thicker than the belly. This difference caused the unit to struggle pulling down the bag onto that curved "cavity" and around the edges of the fish. Right before suction stopped, I had to quickly message the bag flat against the filet before the sealing process began. The good news is, by doing so I was able to get most air out. I also believe it is because of the weaker suction that you need three extra inches at the top of the bag. The seal itself seems okay. We'll see if the seals hold over time. I also learned by elevating the bag and contents during the vacuum/seal process you get much better results. So, I put a large plate on the counter next to the sealer, then put a cutting board on the plate, and then the bag to be sealed on top of the plate and cutting board. Finally, it seems quirky that in the process of sealing the first end of a new bag, the "vacuum/seal" LED goes on and the unit begins to start the vacuum for a few seconds after the sealing is done. That seems like a software "bug" to me, because I have no idea why you would need to vacuum less than 1" of a bag that is already sealed.
