Quieter than others and easy to set up

12,000 BTU Unit - This is the 3rd floor model air conditioner I’ve purchased and I love it. The packaging was very sturdy. Heavy cardboard box, thick styrofoam padding and nylon straps outside the box protected the unit which was delivered in perfect condition. Unpacking was a breeze. One of the things I love about this unit is the exhaust hose is a heavy, more rigid plastic material that easily snaps into the unit. Other units like this came with flimsy exhaust hoses that needed to be stretched over the exhaust port. I always ended up buying heavier hoses and attaching them with large steel “worm” clamps. Not necessary with the SereneLife unit. The window insert is not as tall as others so it allows more visibility out the window but because of the size and characteristics of my window I had to raise it with a 1” board cut to fit the sill. I also had to trim about 4” from the slide out part for it to fit in my sill. Not a big deal. Took me a minute with my table saw but could easily be done with a hand saw. On a positive note, if you have a very wide window this will fit with no extra work. Also there is a tab to lock the slide expander j to place. I’ve never seen this on previous units. A convenient feature. Now to the important stuff - cooling the house… The unit easily cools my L-shaped living / dining room area as well as the attached kitchen. That’s about 1000 sq ft.. I do have 2 ceiling fans running at slow speed to help circulate the cool air. It is MUCH quieter than previous units I’ve owned. There is a feature that allows the cool air directors to slowly oscillate up and down. I don’t use it but you may find it beneficial. It has a sleek appearance that is aesthetically pleasing. The price was very reasonable for such a powerful, effective air conditioner. Now I’ll mention a few negative issues… 1. There is no screen to cover the outside end of the exhaust port. Depending on where your window is critters and debris can easily find its way into the hose. I’m going to make a screen cover for it. 2. The remote is pretty flimsy and there is no display. My other units had remotes that displayed the same info that is in the unit display. Also the lettering of the functions of the remote buttons is really tiny. 3. As stated, the window unit is very low profile and very wide. Depending on the design of your window you may have to raise the window insert and/or trim the width of the slide expander. All easy things to do but know that it’s possible. All and all I’m very pleased.

Need a boat anchor? A really loud fan? Just don’t need A/C cause this unit won’t deliver.
By sewandsomuchmore on Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2024
Unless you need a loud AF fan or a boat anchor don’t buy this unit. Just save yourself a headache. Unit performed for two very short seasons and died. It no longer cools and the compressor won’t come on. It still works as a fan but it is incredibly loud. It had problems from the get go but during a desperately hot summer I purchased it and it provided relief temporarily so I delayed returning until it was too late. This unit is large but performs rather lacklusterly in the heat and barely kept one room in my tiny one bedroom apartment cool enough for sleeping. I made sure to put it in a shaded window and keep all windows and doors closed. The window installation piece is flimsy and difficult to insert in my rather large windows. Keeping it in and closing the gaps required some trips to the hardware store and some ingenuity. I had difficulty with the remote working. It did so intermittently even while I was in the room close to the unit and using brand new batteries. That was the first turn off. I gave up on that in a few days. The unit is large, cumbersome and difficult to roll especially on carpet. Moving it from room to room is a pain. I feel the wheel design could be better. When it was working I hated how it cycled. Once it got the room to the correct temperature it would turn off completely for several minutes unit the temperature dropped then it would cycle back on. The fan is loud but very white noise like so you could sleep pretty good if it stayed on but….every few minutes it would turn completely off , white noise goes away, you wake up….drift off when it comes on again….rinse and repeat. A nightmare for my sleep schedule. If it just switched to fan mode in between it would have been far less disruptive. I was sure to clean the filters well and often but even that couldn’t save this POS. The filters are weird and flimsy netting type stuff. They rinse and dry easily enough. I was not a fan of where the liquid drain plug was and how it worked. Not well designed and often ended up with some water on the floor no matter how careful I was because it was just not designed to be used easily. At the time of purchase I didn’t get the extra warranty and now I’m wishing I would’ve because this company is not easy to deal with, not customer friendly and they could care less it died. I’ve tried finding a place to repair it and absolutely nobody wants to touch it. Pretty disappointing for such an expensive purchase. I’m now looking for a replacement after using it 3 months in 2022 and 3 months in 2023. Please go buy any other portable by any other company and don’t purchase this unit.
