Instructions are unclear. Its hard to be mad when I got such a good deal, but in my opinion the lack of direction provided by the instructions is a major oversight & has impacted my desire to purchase anything more from the company. I played with my 11 year old & 4 year old. We made the best of it & still enjoyed the game after spending some time filling in the blanks. The instructions did not provide any clarification on how many cards you start with, they also don't make it clear how to play all cards & it also seems to indicate you must play a card with each turn but it's not always possible. What we found to work - is starting the game with no cards, each cards has a snack on them & if there is a mouse on on the board on the snack space that matches the card you picked up you can "catch" that mouse. There are also specialty cards that are actually explained. On your turn you draw a card & if you're unable to play it you save it for later it usually takes a few turns in the beginning to draw a playable card so starting the game with cards in hand isn't necessary.
