Fits large sinks and avoids breakage

Measure your sink before buying this product. Have an old double sink and it was too big. Works only for the center drain. Would be well suited for a larger sinks. Measures are indicated in the specification . Withstands heat and will avoid glass breakage. There were no directions on how to cut. The center part can be cut to accommodate a drain. Drains are circular and these cutouts are square or rectangle. Mark them with a sharpie and cut using scissors. Make sure to clean these since these get dirty but can be placed in the dishwasher to avoid mold.

I did not pay attention to the product measurements when I ordered this, so I did not realize how small it would be. I have a normal/large kitchen sink, so this silicone mat only covers about 75% of it. Luckily, this worked out well for me because my drain is in the top left corner of the sink. Due to the product's size and the placement of my drain, I did not have to cut the mat. This might be unfair, but I docked a star because I don't think there's an easy way to cut the mat so that it looks as nice as KitchenAid's pictures and the cutaways on the backside are only along the middle. I used to have a silicone mat from a different brand, but it did not fit in my current sink. I like this KitchenAid one more because there are more feet on the backside to support whatever you put on it. The feet are also shorter, so there's less flex when heavy plates or pots are placed on it. I'm not sure if KitchenAid used thicker silicone or if this mat is just a better design, but overall, it feels more sturdy than my old one. The mat does its job well. It helps reduce the number of scratches, rings, and rust in the sink, and it's dishwasher safe.

This review is for: KitchenAid Silicone Sink Mat This is really a good quality silicone mat. I'm not using this in the traditional sense of using it in the bottom of the sink. I use mats like this to cushion the counter area in front of the sink and the center section of my double sink. I do that by making a couple long cuts in the mat so that it naturally fits that area. Then I can set hot pans in different things down there and not worry about scratching my nice sink or anything. Pretty decent price on this as well, though would be great if it were just a tad cheaper maybe.
Very useful mat

This mat works great. I needed a better solution for drying dishes than the rack on the countertop or a dishtowel and this turned out to be exactly what I needed. As you can see in the photo, my sink is not quite the same size as the mat but the mat is flexible and adapts to the shape of the sink. There is enough spacing under the mat for all the water to drain and not pool in the sink, which is especially important for me since we have very hard water which could leave spots on the sink, but not with this mat design. It does have relief on the underside to cut out an opening for the drain in various locations but I did not have the need to do that. It also washes up well -- throw it in the dishwasher and, voila, it's clean and ready to go back in the sink.
Excellent sink mat!

My apartment sink is really hard, scratched up, and not very cute. The sink is so hard that I've dropped several glasses while washing them and broken them! This mat seemed like the perfect solution and so far I was right! It makes the sink more attractive by hiding some of the scratches as well as cushions the glassware/dishes/pans that I put in the sink. I also love that this is heat resistand so that you can pour hot water into the sink without worry or set a hot pan in there to soak. No complaints from me at all really, I'm so so so happy and wish I'd gotten this earlier!
A lot of the cost is factored into the name

We have a white or cream-colored sink that quickly shows grime and other food stains. On the one hand, it helps us keep cleaning it, but on the other, it is an eyesore when we see it. We've used a few different sink mats, but nothing ever silicone. Ours have been metal. Those metal ones work well but can scratch the sink easily compared to softer materials like this one. When this mat arrived, it had no hole cut out. This is an excellent way to customize it where you need it. My sink, in particular, is different than most in the disposal placement, so I've had other mats that will work but need to fit better. However, I don't like how it looks after you cut it. There's only an excellent way to do it without it looking cut. I'll get over it, but I wish there were a way to make the cuts look cleaner. We're dealing with silicone, after all. And that's all you should be paying for - a silicone mat. KitchenAid is a famous brand name that can get away with adding a few dollars to its products, but if you go on the product page, you'll see "similar items" for as low as $12. This one will run for $20. That's a big difference without adding anything more to it other than the brand name. Consequently, I can't say this is a great value. But it works and does its job. I'd wait until a sale or try another cheaper brand.
Great silicone mat for small sinks

My basement sink is quite small and this mat fits it pretty well even though there is about an inch off from the edge of the sink. The silicone is very grippy and soft so now I no longer need to worry about putting my dishes down onto the sink too hard as this would protect it. I do wish I used a hole saw to cut out the hole instead of tracing the drain hole around with a knife as the cut out hole is a bit jagged as it was hard to cut a perfect circle without a guide. Besides that, I don't see anything wrong with it allows water to flow through it just fine and the silicone feel like it's good quality.

This KitchenAod silicone sink mat is a great addition for anyone with a kitchen sink. The mat is made of heat-safe silicon. It protects glasses and other dishes from scratching. It has little feet on the bottom that elevate the mat for drainage and airflow. You can easily customize it to fit your sink with 3 hole cutaways. This can even be cleaned in the dishwasher. Neat find and I'm glad I got it!
One size doesn't fit all...

This may appears to be extremely well made and durable. I think for most this would be fantastic. BUT - if you have a smaller double sink I would measure first. My sink is just too small for this. It can go in, but it won't lay flat, and because of the thickness of the mat, really isn't usable that way.
