Very Cute Album with Several Typos and Small Capacity
By lucia on Reviewed in the United States on May 17, 2024
I ordered the Baby Book Keepsake album for a member of my family who will enter the world in a few months. I have given positive and negative comments, and I hope they are helpful to the writer. I hope the product creator will retain all of the positive features of the album and correct the negative ones.On the positive side,1 The book cover is well made, sturdy, and neatly stitched.2. The images of baby animals and greenery are adorable.3. The pages consist of heavy, high-quality, cardstock paper.4. The print is clear throughout the album.5. The keepsake pockets are a great feature.6. The book is in the style of a three-ring binder that facilitates the easy removal and addition of pages. On the negative side, the album requires an increase in capacity (i.e., thickness) and corrections to all typographical and grammatical errors, as follows:1. The pages fit tightly; the three-ring binder's capacity is too small to allow for pages to be smoothly turned. In the current form, I had to open the rings to turn, remove and replace the pages that would have otherwise been torn. This situation can be easily corrected by using binder rings of substantially increased diameter along with a high-capacity binder cover.2. Given the fact that the binder has a small capacity, the binder rings will not close if the user attempts to add keepsakes and photos to it. The same holds true if the user attempts to add additional pages that the maker offers through its customer support service. Again, much larger rings and an increased binder capacity are required to make the product useable.3. The book contains misspellings and grammatical errors. I don't know if the errors occurred due to insufficient proofreading and/or if the pages were written by someone who speaks English as a second language. If the writer is in the latter situation, I included guidance in an attempt to be helpful. a) The introductory page includes a letter to the user. On the first line of the third paragraph, the word "conveniently" is misspelled as "conviniently." b) Two pages contain a misspelling of the word "instill". It is misused/misspelled as "install." The two applicable pages are under a section titled, "About Your Parents." The statement reads, "Characteristics I hope to 'install' in you." The word "Install" refers to the placement of something or someone in a position or place. c) One title page reads, "You are my favorite reason to 'loose' sleep." The correct word is lose. Loose refers to something or someone that is not securely attached or constrained. d) The letter "s" was omitted from the pages with the heading, "Sleep Milestone" and "Movement Milestone." e) The apostrophe was omitted from "Valentines Day." The correct spelling is Valentine's Day; it is treated as a singular possessive noun belonging to St. Valentine. f) "1 Year Old Favorites" is correctly written as 1-Year-Old Favorites. g) In referring to a ten-month-old, the hyphens were omitted just as they were for one-year-old. h) There is also confusion about when to add the letter "s" when discussing months and years. If you are referring to someone who is 10 months old, you do not use hyphens; you add the letter "s" to the number of months. The same grammatical rules apply to numbered years, when discussing age. For example, a person may be a three-year-old or three years old. Apply these rules to every page where these errors occur in the album. In summary, the album is lovely but requires a much larger capacity to be useable. It also contains a number of spelling and grammatical errors that will be noticed by most native English speakers. For these reasons, the album is not giftable. If the recommended changes and corrections are implemented, I believe the keepsake album will have broad appeal.
