I ordered the gray finish one, which was a pretty color. But note: this arrives UNASSEMBLED.No big deal, I figured. I can assemble things, plus my husband spent a whole summer in college assembling furniture as a summer job. Nothing we can't handle.We pulled it out together. No worries at first, except for the material chipping as screws were going in (see photo) in some places. And you need to take care with the sides. The rubber nubs go on the OUTSIDE, not the inside. Everything is screwed in with a wrench they provide. I have found that products like these typicaly loosen over time, so I immediately made a mental note to save that wrench for future tightening.But then we got to the flip step part. You are meant to screw the step in four places into the base. But there are NO SCREW HOLES. (see photo) And you can't just screw in the screws without the holes, because they have blunt tips (see photo). Therefore, you MUST HAVE A DRILL and make your own pilot holes before proceeding. And of course, you run the risk of damaging the skinny piece of wood. I don't think this was a defect in the one we got, because the holes are not shown in the diagram for this part of the directions, whereas the pilot holes are visible in other parts in other diagrams. Plus, the directions tell you that they want you to do this part before attaching the flip step to the rest of the step. But that means you might end up attaching the step in the wrong place because the width must be just so.Plus, zoom in on the listing image too. See all those screw heads? They look awful. Typically, caps are provided cover screw caps, but not for this.Overall, I consider this a giant fail.
