Prepare to Improvise
By Mr. Reviewer on Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2024
I’ll start admitting that I hate assembling things. I’ve gotten much better, but I still hate it. But my excitement to receive this chair really trumped my distain. Well… my excitement was wasted. Assembly: I felt the same way about the assembly of this chair as Michael Jackson felt about touring. It was excruciating. The assembly instructions are H O R R I B L E!! I’ve attached the photo of the instructions. No words. Just crappy black and white outlines. And maybe it would’ve been better if (a) all of the parts were present and (b) the labels/etchings were correct. (A) There are missing screws! For instance, the “L” screws are just not there. The paper says that there are 4 included and that I would need 3 of them. Well, I had to search around my house to find some that would fit. Luckily, I found 2 from something else that fit the L holes — not the necessary amount, but hopefully enough to hope up the back of the chair. (B) For some reason, I had several “Z” screws. The thing is, “Z” on the instructions is labeled as the leg bar. So what on earth are the Z screws for. Me, being a little intelligent, thought that maybe they were really being labeled as “N”. But there’s not “N” anything in the instructions. Some may think, “Well, maybe use “Z” in the place of the missing “L” screws.” Tried it. Nope! They don’t fit the holes. So I have useless Z screws. And speaking of the aforementioned etchings. It would’ve been nice if the instructions inform us that the parts/screws are etched to identify what they are. But then again, even that would’ve been a disappointment. Because not all of the screws were etched with a label. So that’s where the guessing game begins. That’s only a portion of the assembly issues. Comfort: The chair is not comfortable. With the lower back cushion, the seat is too short. So it must be removed (for me at least). The seat of the chair is also hard. So is the back of the chair. Although the back is hard, it hasn’t bothered me yet. But I can tell that the seat will become uncomfortable after prolonged sitting. Before I typed this review, I gave the chair 2 stars: 1 star for the look and 1 star because I’m a nice guy. Then I tried to add pics and the review completely disappeared. So I’m not such a nice guy anymore. If you can find it in your budget to get a better chair, please do it. For me. This is a decent “for now” chair. But I’ll be upgrading soon.
