SwissGear Viibe III 19" Laptop Backpack

This bag is not it. I needed to replace my over 10 year old Swissgear laptop backpack because the lappy compartment zipper finally gave up the ghost. This seamed like a suitable replacement in layout and design, so when it popped up on sale for 35-40% off I snagged it. It's not even worth the sale price. The backpack straps are extremely thin and lack padding. They don't have the suspension "give" as my old Swiss gear bag. The adjuster straps aren't even 1" wide, they're about 3/4. They're also a little narrow at the top of the bag where they are mounted. I'm not a big person and even on me they feel a little narrow. The top soft lined accessory compartment doesn't have sufficient volume, it's nearly a "flat" pocket. The back panel is pretty firm, which is nice, but it sits "proud' of the bottom of the backpack, totally eliminating any chance you can stand this pack up on it's own. There's also not (IMO) sufficient padding in the bottom of the bag and its main compartment. The main compartment is very nice, and I really loved the internal organization and it has the expected amount of room based on the volume. The laptop compartment is sufficiently protective and easy to access and will fit an e-reader, tablet or notebook. The side pockets are sufficient in volume to fit my huge coffee and water bottles, but are a little on the short side for taller bottles. Durability is questionable, just because it's mesh.... Overall the bag looks and feels cheaply made with cheap materials. The design choices appear to made by aesthetic minded individuals with little thought given to how they actually function. It is not worth the full retail price in any way. At full retail price, you are in the range of A LOT of better bags.
