Way better than expected

I got this through a deal of the day for $22. I was expecting something akin to my singer “sew simple” or the AliExpress mini machines frustrating to learn and use but workable for repairs once you pass the trial by fire. This this is way easier than that! This works almost like a big actual sewing machine. It doesn’t drop stitches and it sews really well! Only sews a basic straight stitch but so does the sew simple. I’ve tried many mini machines and this is the best one I’ve ever used. I also really love it has a slow setting and a finger guard. I had quit machine sewing for a while after a tragic accident sewing my finger into a project. I just really appreciate the safety features here. Because it’s giving me that anxiety reduction needed to be more active sewing again. Some tips for parents getting this. Get a threader. They come with any cheap sewing kit. This will help you rethread past the finger guard If the machine “stops working” suddenly and won’t turn on this thing seems to sense jams and prevents them by not allowing you to run the machine until the obstruction is clear. This is actually REALLY COOL for a child’s learner machine as it means you’re not going to break this on accident. Usually turning the knob on the side gently towards you to manually rotate the needle will fix this and have it run again. If that doesn’t work unthread the top thread and rethread it. This thing is loud though. But it’s a basic machine and all the basic models are loud. Some WD40 in classic key places made it a bit quieter. Yeah this is perfect for someone in the target demographic who watched miraculous ladybug and wanted to try sewing. They could do that and not have this machine ruin the dream before it began. I might have to check out other ladybug merch cause the care for the fans and attention to detail here is pretty amazing. It doesn’t look like her machine in the show but since it’s an actual working machine and not a crappy toy, I’m giving that a pass.

Cute but doesn't work

Bought as a Christmas present for my 7 year-old daughter. It comes with a power cord and pedal. However, after plugging the pedal into the machine it did not work. We had to rely on pressing the power button on the machine to get it to go. After about 10 mins of use the light went out, shortly after the button to make the machine sew stopped working. We took a brief break and everything started back up, so looks like it easily overheats. To add, I was only trying to show my daughter how to make a really simple barbie dress. The threads wouldn't even hold. The tension couldn't be loosened enough, yet when sewn the thread wouldn't hold.... only bought for the small compact size and finger guard. I don't recommend buying any of these cute kid machines as they all seem to be built the same. Cute idea, but 0 stars
