Generous Quantity With Bonus. Bags Not Third-Party Certified Biodegradable
By Jay on Reviewed in the United States on March 17, 2024
I received a vast quantity of Green Pursuit’s poop bags in a rectangular, sturdy cardboard retail like package, measuring 6½” x 5½” x 5½” and weighing near (3) pounds. There was a generous quantity of rolls and rolls of lighter green in color bags that had a dalmatian looking type dog on the front of each bag and words that the bag degrades faster in nature without producing micro-plastics [okay]. However, in my opinion, there were a couple of important aspects missing from these bags. First, they did not have the texture nor the aroma of a certified biodegradable/compostable bag. Additionally, they had no certification(s) on the bags substantiating being a biodegradable and/or compostable bag. In today’s market, compostable poop bags have certifications imprinted on the bags to substantiate claims. This is a slight negative for me. The bags are arguably eco-friendly, claiming they are made from Polyethylene, I suspect HDPE [High Density Polyethylene, which is a thermoplastic polymer made from petroleum= + EPI – the chemical name for Oxo-biodegradable plastic; an EPI additive is supposed to break down plastic particles into smaller pieces]. However, there is a school of thought that claims EPI is not truly compostable, or at least composability as per ASTM D6400, versus just breaking down plastic into micro-plastics. ASTM D6400 is the standard specification for solid material biodegradation (by composting) and is required for the labeling of plastics designed to be aerobically composted in municipal or industrial facilities.] However, the bags note these do not produce micro-plastics? There is no further explanation that I can tell about why that is so. Therefore, the reader is encouraged to do their own research. The bags powder free and strong. Through my use, I found they have proven to be durable too; have not leaked and have not split after being tossed (10) feet. I also use the bags to stuff soiled diapers within and/or other organic wastes. The bags appear to be like larger in size, to gallon sized capacity bags. I think the provided supply, at a quantity (555) bags to be generous. The bags do have a silky-smooth, crunchy sounding texture and have no aroma that I can distinctly say exists. I have stretched these a tad and they did not tear, even though they are somewhat seeing through. Their size is about 8¼” x 13” (closed), which is fractionally smaller than a recent competitor’s size. The bags do not have handles and no twistee ties were supplied, however, can be tied up using their sides, so long as the bag is not overstuffed. I can easily get two (2) heavily soiled diapers within a bag. I have no idea how thick these bags are, as they are thin. I would estimate a 14-micron thickness = 0.551181 mil, at most, which is about 33% thinner than a competitor. A true compositable bag can break down after a year or two, so, I think they should have a best to use by date; or a date of manufacture, as these bags, arguably, do expire. What was inside? Inside the package was (37) rolls of poop/waste bags. Measurements Each roll is just under (1¼”) in diameter and just under (2½”) tall. Each roll has (15) bags. Each roll weighs in at about 32.50 to 34.00 grams, which is about 15% “lighter” than other competing bags. Certifications Other compostable/biodegradable type poop bags have certifications announcing, for instance, that they are. This has no such certifications, which is a slight negative. Performance I pushed in some heavily soiled diapers – that’s our primary use, expecting bag failure, however, the bag stretched a tad and survived. Thoughts Typically, HDPE bags that decompose within a certain period, a year or two – that’s the EPI in them. Not sure what this is all exactly made of, there was no representation in the listing, on the box, other than Polyethylene. Further, no symbol, such as an ear of corn, which is typical. I appreciated the dog bone container roll container, it/s easy to insert a roll from within, to dispense from. Bottom-line I like the bags, they are durable, they are competitively priced. But they are not certified as compostable/biodegradable. Further, they are thin. They are the right size. I do wish they had handles though. These are five (5) stars, but for the negatives mentioned, herein, such as a failure to disclose information, such as use by date, date of manufacture, thickness of the bags, and lack of “green” certifications make me suspect and overall, I consider these a weak five (5) star though. I hope my thoughts added a bit of information.

Missing Carabiner Clip, No Handles on bags as listed in description.
By tdmom on Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2024
This dispenser is not ideal at all. First of all, mine was delivered without a carabiner clip. I looked through the box of refill rolls and there simply was not one included, therefore I cannot use it to hang on a leash unless I go get a clip. Second, there is no silicone insert within the opening of where one bag fits through to be "dispensed" and be ready for use. I'm used to the dispensers that have a silicone insert with an "X" that the bag fits through and the reason is to keep the bag firmly in place until it is ready to be pulled, and then it also aids in an easy "tear off" of the bag. These bags are incredibly difficult to tear off from one another whether they are in the included dispenser or not. The bags don't seem to be too bad, however I just want to point out that they do NOT have the "convenient handles for easy tying" on them as advertised in the seller's description. They are just a simple bag that you either have to tie a knot around the neck or use some sort of a twist tie, if so desired. I will say they do seem to be durable, and they are a longer size bag which is convenient when you're putting your hand through them to use as a glove while picking up dog poop. I have also used these bags while scooping my cats' litter boxes. I have had no issues while carrying filled bags. I think the price ($19.99 at time of review) for 555 bags is very reasonable, although I haven't compared prices extensively. If you don't mind possibly not receiving a clip for the dispenser or the difficulty of tearing these bags, then purchasing these for bag durability may be good for you.
