MJYNITE Cat Water Fountain Filters,16 Pack

I was hesitant to even try to use these filters. When I opened the package the smell was awful; like burned plastic and some sort of chemical. The sponges were what smelled so bad and as I was rinsing one it seemed to be falling apart or little shards coming off. I soaked the filter and tried putting it in the tray and it would not sit flush in the cavity so I was worried debris would end up in the tank, which didn't happen with the original filters. I decided to try it anyway and set it up. Came down the next morning to vomit next to the fountain and the tray knocked off of the base (I have a cat who likes to paw at the water but he's never totally pulled the top off.) I will be returning these and I do not recommend
