Customizable and 100% light blocking
By Nicole B. on Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2024
This Portable DIY 100% Blackout Curtain (118" x 57") is really simple, and easy to use. It's customizable, just measure, cut to size, attach the Velcro strips, then hang up wherever needed, and it's easily cut with standard scissors; although, this package already includes everything necessary for installation. In addition to the curtain, it includes a cutting tool (like a letter opener, so it's safer than a razor knife), permanent marker, Velcro strips with an adhesive backing, and a tape measure roll (a flexible tape measure, like those used for body measurements). It comes altogether in a Ziploc bag, so you can take it with you somewhere if needed, it also keeps it all organized, and easy to find. The blackout curtain comes as one large sheet of material, that's black on the inner side, and silver for the outer side - to reflect the Sun, and heat. The material it's made of is not really what I'd call a curtain though. Like I said, it's just a thin sheet of material. I think somewhere in the description I read it is called "Oxford Cloth," but I'm not too sure what that's supposed to be like, so I can't really say if it is this or not. What I can say is that it's similar to a really thin vinyl tarp. Whatever it's made of, it definitely works great. It's a perfect temporary solution to keep the Sun light, and heat, outside, which helps keep it cooler inside. The adhesive sticks well, and the Velcro holds it in place, also making it easier to rearrange, take down, and put back up, whenever needed, without wasting a bunch of tape, or double sided adhesive, in the process. This curtain is also definitely 100 percent light blocking. As long as it's able to cover the entire window frame, it keeps all of the light out. I think it's a great quality product, even though the material is thin, it's not too thin. It won't rip, or tear, it is strong, and durable, as well as easy to clean. It's a good value too, considering it's price, the quality of the curtain, and the accessories included in the package. Overall, I think it's a really useful, convenient, and versatile, product, that is easy to use, as well as maintain.

It works but it is so thin

The velcro is strong and the curtain is thin. after putting it up and down a few times the curtain start breaking a part. if having it stay on for a long time is alright, but for me i just want it to be there while bed time so not the best choice for me.
