Quite possibly the best "old timey" kitchen gadget I've ever owned. Just smash some real dairy butter in the holder, put water in the cup up to the line and enjoy soft, sweet butter for days w/o either tearing your toast to shreds like it was in a scene from An American Werewolf in London or performing a reenactment of the wreck of the Exxon Valdez oil spill.

Worst thing I’ve ever purchased

The thing is worthless! The butter doesn’t stay in “the bell” it drops into the water everytime! I tried using it without water, and it just slides down into the bottom. When I lift it up to try and use it, it ends up a HUGE mess! Don’t waste your money!
