I ordered this for recall when I take my dog on hikes. It's $25.99 so I didn't expect it to do all that my $300 training collar did before she managed to find the remote and chew on it so that it stopped working. This remote is as big and not as comfortable as the expensive one with much fewer features but easy to distinguish between the different modes of tone, vibration and impulse an easier to use each of those. I'm hoping the ½ mile range is enough, she usually stays close by but if she sees prey to chase, I'm not sure if the range will be enough. I guess I don't really need to worry about the range since she's not phased by the stimulus which is odd since she was with the expensive collar. But maybe she's not feeling it? I tested this on my own leg as I do all collars before using on her. I couldn't feel the stimulus of the "shock" part through my sweat pants and only through a thinner material. I also have zero luck at changing the strength of the stimulus so maybe it's just not strong enough for her to react to if she's even feeling it. In order for me to use this successfully with her will take more training so she hopefully will respond to the tone or vibration but she's still young and if she's distracted, she needs more than that otherwise she would be fine with just my voice so this is not effective for her any more than just my voice. It might work for a small or very sensitive dog but it's also bulky for a small dog. I'm not a fan of the power button location and size on the collar. My girl loves to scratch and also to rub her face and neck on the ground so with the size of this button and it's location I see a good chance of her turning it off while scratching. I'm going to have to start training her using this collar so that I can just use tone in the future for her to obey at the tone so I don't have to try the other choices but for now she only cocks her head at the tone. I used vibration on the pricey collar but haven't used it in months and then found out she had decommissioned it on one of our hikes when she went rogue out of sight for 5 minutes. From just trying this out in the yard, this isn't going to help for times when she won't respond to my voice so basically useless for me. Doubt it would work well for any stubborn dog and I wouldn't recommend
