Lightweight and does the job

Pardon my messy butter dish, but I've been using it the past couple of months and now want to report that after years of using a clear glass butter dish (which I finally dropped and broke) and then going to a heavier ceramic pottery version (that I was constantly in fear of dropping), I opted for this butter dish and boy howdy am I glad I did. No more worries about dropping and breaking it. For me, its the ideal version of a butter dish that combines attractive form and even better functional design. Love the handle! Who woulda thunk it? On my glass butter dish, I had always wished that the top had a handle, but now, after struggling with that even heavier piece of pottery, I now understand the value of having a handle where you need it most - for picking up the whole thing. I keep my butter dish in the cabinet where the dishes are kept and that keeps it out of sight yet ready to be used on whatever dish I'm preparing. So picking up the whole dish is much easier with this design and it is as light as a feather. I would never think I would write a review about a butter dish, but this one deserves a glowing review and I highly recommend it!

OK But My Ceramic One is Better for Me
By Grandma on Reviewed in the United States on November 30, 2024
I was a bit disappointed with this butter dish. Primary negative is that the top is just held there with gravity, no minor snap or click to hold it in place. Nice feature is the measurements along the sides for easy cutting, but I will likely still cut a stick in the wrapper, easier to see. We keep our butter out on the counter so it's always soft. I may end up using this upside down. The stick in the lid, the base on top. Less chance to be bumped off. Nice that it is dishwasher safe, but I like my ceramic dish and lid better.

It works but not the most attractive

If you're looking for someone purely utilitarian, you'll be fine with this butter dish. The innovation it adds that most butter dishes don't have is a tablespoon measurement marking on the plastic, which makes it a lot easier to throw away the wrapper. The lid keeps the butter safe from odors and dust, and I like that it's clear so you can see how much better is left. I also like that you can move it from the refrigerator to the table and back when you need to using the built-in handle. Being top-rack dishwasher safe is a huge plus too. My main gripe is that it's just a little too plain; I expected something a little more stylish from a brand like Copco, which Lifetime Brands acquired in 2016. This really seems not a lot different than any other molded plastic object you can find mass produced anywhere. I would have loved to see a little more innovation or a little more uniqueness as befitting Copco (which at one point in its history was known for its innovative designs that combined modern form and practical function, including designs by Michael Lax). I'd say the "function" definitely wins out over "form" here. Not that this is a bad thing, but I do hope that Lifetime Brands doesn't just treat its brands like cash cows with product produced as cheaply as possible, but continue to innovate as its iconic brands like Mikasa, Pfatlzgraff, and Copco once did.
So much better than the old glass kind

What can I say? It's a butter dish :) Well, I can honestly say it's a *better* butter dish than the typical glass kind, in my opinion! - For one, the top won't ever slide around, because thanks to the miracle that is plastic, the top actually sits in an ever-so-slight groove that's meant to (and indeed does!) hold it in place. - For two, if either piece should somehow manage to slide around anyway (or otherwise) and ultimately hit the floor at a high rate of speed, where the "other" kind would thusly transform into an all-new paradigm, seemingly intent on maiming, with this kind you just have to.... pick it back up again! - And numero tres, this one just looks so much nicer: contemporary, modern... "This ain't your grandma's butter tray," literally or figuratively... (unless you give her one!)

I wish I had gotten one of these butter dishes earlier. It is well made and well designed. It is easy to clean and I love that it has measuring guide on it. When I buy butter, sometimes the measurements on the paper is misaligned, so having this butter dish eradicates that problem entirely. It can dishwasher safe which is a big plus. Highly recommend.
Simple well made butter dish

This is simple style butter dish with transparent lid so you can see inside and how much butter you have left. Fits easily in refrigerator with a small footprint to put in butter section if you have one or takes up little space on the shelf. Goes easily to the counter as well. I find the measurement guide on the base a nice addition for cooking and baking. The handle is interesting feature and didn't experience lid falling off as handle on only one end. Easy to clean and the plastic can be put in dishwasher. The only thing I would change if I could is the width as I normally buy block butter but i just cut it in half lengthwise and it fits in so I'm still happy. Good buy for a simple and easy to use butter dish.
Plastic butter dish with lid

Decent product for the price point, dual colored plastic butter dish with a lid and offering a slightly upturned scoop design on one side as a handle. Don’t try to hold it by the handle when you’ve used the butter for greasing any surface though, you’ll drop the tray! Decent for what it is & the price. I’ve now had it slip out of a greasy hand in transport to hit the floor yet show no damage at all (makes me wonder how many times it might survive my use & attempted transport!) If it breaks, I’ll share the drop count and update review.

Easy to Find in My Frig!

My new fancy frig didn't come with a butter compartment, which is not a bad thing, so I opted to order this covered butter dish. I like the pretty, pale seafoam green color because it's easy to spot in a white frig for people like me who never put anything in the same place twice. Hunting for items is always an adventure for my family! I buy both short cube butter and long cute butter cubes (whatever is on sale wins) and this butter dish holds both. It has markings for tablespoons for both size butter cubes which is a nice touch and l like that it has an edge that allows it to be easily held. Great butter holder!
A nice basic butter dish.

This is a basic butter dish, with the exception that it has a handle, which does make picking it up easier. There are marks, to measure your butter, but I find they're basically useless, as soft butter is hard to control. The clearance between the top of the butter, and the top of the lid, is very small, and if your butter sticks up a little bit (as soft butter will do sometimes) then it will likely touch the top of the lid. For being made out of plastic, this butter dish does have a nice feel to it.
A little short on the lid

The Copco Butter Dish with Clear Lid and Measurment Guide, 7.2 x 2.6 x 2 Inch, Green (7.2 x 2.6 x 2 Inch, Green) seems a little short for a typical cube of butter. I would have liked it better if it was a bit taller. There are measuring marks on both sides of the bottom allowing one to measure for standard and longer size butter cubes. It does NOT snap in place, so it comes off easily. I'd rather it snap in place to keep it from falling out as I use this holder in my RV.
